The rod is not bent or ding. It is a metal of some type. The handle is cork and is in fairly good condition with only a small area of slight damage. See the pictures. It measure 43 3/8" long closed and about 84" when extended out. It might go longer I do know. I did not force it. The handle is marked Bristol. Antique Victorian Alnwick Hardy Fly Fishing Rod Snake Eyes Cork Handle Date 1899
HARDY TEN FOOT FLY ROD. I first started fishing at the tender age of eight. Now into my sixties I have been through it all, pleasure, match, running clubs and ponds and now the more relaxing bite-less hours of carp fishing. Over the years I collected ABU and Mitchell reels and a few rods. This was my Holy Grail of tackle and took pride of place when talking vintage tackle, it is exactly as I purchased other than the annual polish I had to give it, the condition is not good but for its age I suppose that can be forgiven, the non-prefix number points to 1899 I think, the cork handle is very fair with reel rings and stop ring all intact, the rod itself has issues with the varnish in places and slight curvature that I am sure will correct, original Hardy snake eyes are correct other than one missing, the remaining ones have rusty surface again ... morethis is correct as the eyes would have been steel wire produced, the top eye is twisted, the ferrell's are the Hardy Twist Lock but are probably the worst feature of the rod, the female needs re-whipping and the male has all but lost the locking pin to rust. It is complete in a rod bag possibly original but again in poor condition. Well there it is. Probably one of the oldest Hardy rods you will see on ebay this year, needing a expert to bring it back to life or as myself just a great talking point. A very old rod which my Dad has owned since his Dad gave it to him. my Dad is 91) So in all a very old rod. Some of the schlack whippings are coming undone but the brass fittings are lovely and would polish up nicely. It is very long and is in three pieces which fit together. But it looks like there was a label once up near the beginning of the cork handle. the cork is in different pieces(on purpose) There are two metal bands that I believe are nickel from other's I've read about. One of the bands is covered up quite a bit with tape. I was going to take it off but decided to leave it in it's original condition. The pole looks like wood. It is in two pieces and I can't get the pieces apart so it is shipped in it's original length of about 6 feet long. You are viewing a 3 piece Professionally Hand Crafted Hexagon Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod with a cork and mahogany handle. It measures about 110 inches long when assembled a nd has 12 eyelets. All of the eyelets are very se cure. It comes with a cloth case with 3 divided stitched sections for protection on the rod. It is in excellent condition all the way and will make an fantastic addition to any collection. Please see my other listings for more collectible items as well as antique items and toys. Here is a old metal fishing pole. This is a early Telescoping fishing pole. This old metal fishing rod has a Cork Handle. The area where you put a fly reel has a slider piece that you can slide up on the reel foot. The metal or steel fishing rod is about 2 feet 3 inches long CLOSED. When you extend the old fishing rod. The length is just under 5 feet long. The line guides are made of some type of Red color plastic or glass. This old steel fishing rod is neat and in used condition. The old rod displays good for the cabin decor or fishing room. It's hard to find these old fishing rods with the cork handles. I AM SAYING THE ROD IS MINT SINCE IT LOOKS LIKE IT HAS NEVER BEEN USED; I CAN’T FIND ANY SIGNS THAT IT HAS BEEN USED. The triangle tube does show some age as it has some faded areas and one area shows some roughness to the finish like there had been an identification tape label on the tube at one time. Label on the rod tube has is also worn some and original owner has written his name in the white area of the tube at both ends. The tube’s cap is no longer connected by the plastic type hinge that holds it to the tube when open. But the cap is tight and works great. Here is a old vintage fiberglass FLY fishing rod. Very nice Near mint condition. With a metal storage tube. Marked with lots of writing including"Horrocks Ibbotson" Power Glass" No 130 in" No 1257 3/4" Utica NY Made in USA" Genuine Foulproof Guides" Crown Quality Custom Deluxe" All writing is clear and easy to read. There are 2 sections total length is about 91 inches. All 7 line guides are good and securely mounted. The handle is cork and is in extra nice condition for this material. The handle butt cap is present. Both reel seat clamps are good. I see no serious damage nor repairs. This rod is near mint condition. Probably as nice as you could find on an old rod like this. I took several photos so you judge the cosmetic condition from the photos. Only some very light wear from handling. Overall extremely ... morenice condition. Also included is an aluminum storage tube. Tube was marked but markings but I can't read them. Tube has some wear. I do not know how old it is but it is vintage. It is a neat looking an unusual vintage fishing collectable. It is in as found condition and will look even better if properly cleaned. See photos for details. vintage fishing fly rod PEQUEA cork handle 8' two piece bamboo?
I have no idea of the history behind this or the value if any so I am going to take offers for it. With that being said please understand that my asking price is just a number and I am looking for the best offer of what it is worth to you. I am very realistic and fair. When I got this it went on my pole rack and has been there for 20+ years. I am unable to identify the material that it is made from but the handle is cork and the metal is non magnetic brass or copper probably. There is a lot of string work on it around the eyes and the golden overlays. There is a label on the pole and"PEQUEA" is the only legible word I can see.
