This is a Vintage Montague Rapidan 3-piece Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod. It comes with 2 different tips. Making this an adjustable four-piece set. The differences between the two tips include: Slightly different lengths. One tip is a full inch longer. Slightly different tiptops. The tiptop of the slightly shorter tip has a guide with a red eyelet) Slightly different widths. The longer tip is also slightly thinner: the bamboo just below the tiptop measures 2mm and 4mm just above the male ferrule. While the bamboo of the shorter tip measures 2mm just below the tiptop and 5mm just above the male ferrule. Despite the differences between the tips. They are clearly made of the same materials(the same bamboo, windings, and ferrules) With the longer tip in place, the pole measures 9' from butt cap to tiptop. Old Bamboo 3 piece 9' fly fishing pole with 2 tips – South Bend?? brand
Hate to use the words old and vintage. But that is what it is. Not sure of the brand. Can only read Quality on the label, but a viewer said it is South Bend from 1926. I will have to take his word for it. Each piece is 37.25” long. Has damaged finish, mostly on the handle part, but it is still solid. The second tip fits and looks the same but not sure if it is by the same manufacturer. Not a fisherman so let me know if you know something I don’t. Vintage Cane Bamboo Fishing Pole, 11' 5", 3 piece, circa 1950
This beautiful toasted 3 piece cane or bamboo fishing pole is in great shape. Ferrules and tip-top guide are aluminum. This a dip style fishing pole so there is only a line guide on the tip. This would be great for man-cave or interior decorating. If you want to use for actual fishing you would need to re-glue the ferrules on the bamboo because they are a little loose& polish up the fittings so they fit better and can pulled apart again.
