Up for auction is this vintage 2 piece GEP Mira-Glass casting rod.The rod is in super condition and looks like it was used very little. The reel seat has a few paint scratches from a reel but thats all. No chips or cracks in the cork handle. The guides are straight with no braeks. All the wraps including the intermediate wraps are complete with no fraying and still very bright. The decal reads: 850.GEP,MIRRA-GLASS ROD. Measures 66 1/2" long when put together.Thanks!

Wow! Heres a nice one. 2 piece Gep Actionized Spinning Rod. Wow! Comes with the original sock and what could be the original tube also? Very nice. Hollow steel rod c.1940s. Both sections approx. 42 1/2 inches each. 7 feet complete. Large cork handle is not quite 13 1/2 inches. No signs that i can see of ever having a reel mounted to it, but it does have a few blems and dirt here and there. Butt section has one large eyelet. Tip section has 4 eyelets and the tip top. WELCOME TO TIPTON TACKLE ~ VINTAGE AND ANTIQUE FISHING GEAR AN OUTSTANDING FIELD FIND ~ VINTAGE GEPHART MFG. CO. GEP" ACTIONIZED TUBULAR STEEL FLY ROD ~ COMES WITH ORIGINAL ROD SOCK AND TUBE ~ CIRCA 1940s ~ EXCELLENT CONDITION ~ COULD BE FISHED TODAY The years between World War 1 and World War II were the golden years for"steel" fishing rods. Most all tackle manufacturers included a line of steel rods in their catalogs but many of them were simply marketing"trade rods" which carried their names and labels but were produced for them by other manufacturers. While there were several. Among the more renown producers of these relics were Orchard industries, Horton Manufacturing, American Fork& Hoe(True-Temper) Gephart Mfg. Co. of Chicago and Heddon after they patented the tubular steel process in 1934. While Heddon ... morerelied on variations of taper and wall thickness to achieve variations in actions in their tubular steel rods, Gephart succeeded in accomplishing similar results through a series of strategically engineered and located subtle tapered reductions in diameter over the entire length of the rod. They promoted and marketed these rods under the registered trademark, Actionized" steel. A mid-1940s company advertisement declared Gephart Mfg. Co. of 1020 West Adams Street, Chicago 7, Illinois to be"Specialists in Steel Fishing Rods for Bait Casting, Fly Fishing and Salt Water Fishing. It further states, The trout fisherman who loves the feel of a throbbing fly rod will get an even greater thrill when a GEP Actionized Fly rod is used. Its excellent action, extreme lightness, willing response and ease of care are features that make GEP Fly Rods a big favorite with fly fishermen everywhere. The middle rod is a Gep Rod. 4' 6" long with little to no wear to the cork handle. There is some light rust to the steel rod and the tip top guide has some damage. The bottom rod is a True Temper, 4' 7" long with a small dent to the handle end cap. Otherwise it's in good used condition. The guides as well as the hook keeper appear to me to be intact and tightly wound. Please check out the photos carefully. As I don't know much about rods. The cork grip appears very good, there is a small chip out of the cork on the end. It has no tube or case, nor a cloth sock. I think this is about 70 years old. While I am pretty sure it is metal, there are several chips in the pole. I took a close up(last photo) which may help you determine that it's steel. All the eyelets are strong and tight with a sheen. One rod tip is 46" and the other is 35 3/4" long. The handle is 10" long. I think these are metal rods. And looks like brass. I don't know if it has been used, but looks pretty pristine to me. The shafts are not round but kind of fluted. The cork handle has sharp edges and shows no evidence of usage. One spot where the paint is not very bright on rod shaft. Pressure fit shafts. I will create a special box with padding to insure safe travel.
