Vintage ~"Hardy Palakona The Wye" 3 Piece Split Cane Salmon Fly Rod With Bag PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ON THE UK SITE AND LISTED IN GB POUNDS. Vintage Hardy"Palakona The Wye" 3 Piece Split Cane Salmon Fly Rod. This fabulous"Hardy's" Palakona The Wye" rod is in good"as found" condition and it has not been restored or repaired by us. The rod measures 12 foot 6 inches. including the handle) in overall length. The fittings and adjustable"screw-grip" reel seat to the butt section are in aluminium, these do show some minor patches of discolouration and the rubber butt end is a little rough and discoloured. It has"lockfast" joints. Which are all marked with the number"2" they have retained much of their original finish and are a good snug fit. All of the rings are present and ... morewell attached, the top and bottom ring are agate lined. The burgundy whipping is in good order and the joints have been whipped in copper wire for additional strength. There is no crazing to the varnish but there are one or two small chips and fading in colour to the whipping underneath the rings. There is also a small section in between the 4th and 5th rings to the top section where the varnish has lost colour. The top section of the rod has a slight kink or set to the right. The aluminum butt and reel ring has"Made by Hardy's England" and the number"H62331" 1964) Just above the handle the rod has"Regd. Trademark Palakona" The Wye" 9" and"12 1/2 FT" hand written in indian ink. The rod has its' original bag. The rod has a lovely feel when held. Well balanced, sturdy, and it has taken on a super depth of colour over the years. All in all this is a very nice. Useable example of a classic"Hardy Brothers" rod. This interesting old fishing rod is marked F.E.Thomas Special Bangor. Maine. Also, there is a patent date June 1913. There are 5 pieces plus a large tip carrier part. The five pieces are all 63" long. There are a few missing guides and a few loose wraps but otherwise all looks OK. The tips look unused. The cork has some dings but it is intact. Vintage Sharpes Scottie, 3pc Split Cane, Spliced Joint Salmon Fly Rod.
This is a classic Salmon Fly Rod from J.S. Sharpes of Aberdeen. The rod is named the'Scottie' As were a lot of their rods! The rod is a split cane, spliced joint, 13' 3pc, Salmon Fly Rod. It is made with Sharpes Impregnated Cane and comes with a spare tip. The rod is in usable condition and was in fact being used until fairly recently. The re-whipping on some of the eyes has been done somewhat crudely but effectively to keep the rod in action. Some of these re-whips can be seen by their lighter colour. The rod carries a transfer printed'f' on a white background. This indicates that the rod was supplied by Farlows. It comes with its makers cloth bag. If you have any questions please get in touch. Here we have an old Vintage Robertsons of Glasgow cane salmon fly rod. It is a double handed rod measuring approx 13ft 8 ins in length, it is in reasonable condition for it's age all eyes and whippings intact but could probably do with an overhaul to freshen it up, it is stamped with the heron bird on the top reel ring which i'm sure is a Robertsons logo. It also still has it's original ferrule stoppers which iv'e seen go for more than i have listed the rod for. if you have time have a peek at my other fishing items.
