Manufactured most likely in early ... more1960s. When the 1451 model was a mainstay in the Shakespeare fly fishing rod lineup. Cork handle is in excellent shape. All connecting joints(2) in excellent condition and work perfectly. Tip top and all of the line guides and material used to keep them in place are excellent. There is no reason to think the pole wouldn't fish as well now as it was able to when it was brand new. Shalespeare's composite poles from this era were mostly like this- straight fiber rods with spiral markings. They were less flexible than today's composite poles and not as light. They still work good if they are set up with the right rigging and reel. Shipping: $13.95 for parcel post tube with poles wrapped carefully and protected thoroughly. Plus insured by seller. Shakespeare FY-920 Presidential Wonderod (fiberglass fly rod)
Up for bids is a vintage Shakespeare model FY-920 fiberglass Wonderod from the higher grade Presidential series. The date code is EEC. Dating this rod to August 1966. This is a 7' rod and is rated for D, HDH, 2LM lines inthe old line designations. In modern AFTMA designations, this corresponds to a 5-weight. This is a nice light 2-peice rod and weighs about 3.5 ounces. A classic fly rod, direct from the Gadabout Gaddis era of fly fishing. The rod shows average signs of age but is in nice fishable condition with all guides and windings intact. Both sections are the same length. A great little trout rod or panfish rod. This rod also comes with a cloth rod sack and plastic rod case.

All of the eyelets are in very good condition. The rod is 2-pieces and measures 6'6" long when assembled Appears lightly used. Very good condition. Has the yellow and gold Wonder Rod decal above the handle. All eyelets are very good condition. Sections assemble easily. Paint on the reel keep and ferrules is in very good condition. All wrapping is tight and in very good condition. Total of five eyelets. Cork is very clean but shows some use. Shows bright where the reel clamps sat for years in the same spot. Measures 6'6" assembled 39-3/4" bottom section 39-1/2" top section. These rods date ... morefrom the late 1950's to early 60"s. Just a nice clean rod for the collection- or for use! Vintage Shakespeare Wonderod 6'6" medium action. Two piece, spinning rod in good condition for it's age. It is labeled with the"Triple Banner" trade mark, along with the US and Canada Pat.s, which dates it between 1958 and 1966. All the guides are present and the wraps are in tact. The original cork handle is dirty, of course, but has no major damage. Metal guides have some surface rust, which should clean up easily. Overall, a great vintage fishing rod.
