Vintage Antique Wooden Australian Fishing Reel 4 Inch Brass Starback Cedar This is a beautiful old cedar fishing reel with brass starback and fittings and with wooden handles. The reel is in beautiful used original condition with aged patina to brass fittings. The Australian cedar woodwork is of excellent quality and colour despite its obvious use and age. The reel turns over smoothly with a great clicking noise. One of the wooden handles is loose in its fitting but could be restored by those in the know. SCARCE 2 1/4" Vintage / Antique Brass 'ENRIGHT & SON' Platewind Fishing Reel.
This is another very old Vintage/ Antique brass 2 1/4" ENRIGHT& SONS' platewind fishing reel. It is clearly stamped on the front plate with the maker's name; ENRIGHT& SON- CASTLE CONNELL' This particular reel dates back to around pre 1880(could be earlier) After this date they stamped their name within an oval logo. Enright& Son' can be found in Phil Waller's book; Fishing Reels' Collecting for all' Vol. 1 pages 39. The reel turns very smoothly with no rubbing. The back plate has the oil hole for servicing the reel. There is a very slight ding to the edge of the back plate which can hardly be seen. The foot is in excellent condition and has the cut away design of that early era. The is no corrosion or pitting to the reel. The handle/knob is in excellent condition with no splits or cracks. 2 1/4" Braddell of Belfast Early 20th C. Brass Plate Wind Reel
A 2 1/4" Early 20th Century Brass Plate Wind Reel with constant check. Faceplate stamped: BRADDELL Braddell standing for Joseph Braddell who was a tackle retailer in Belfast in the late 19th and early 20th Century. An early cast packet from the shop is shown in the photographs above and is included in the sale. This is a fine example of a brass plate wind reel from the early 20th Century- the brass appears to have been laminated which has helped it retain almost all of its patina. The faceplate is stamped BRADDELL- the style of the typeface denoting that perhaps this reel was made or sold as late as the 1930's. The handle is made of bone and there is some cuttyhunk backing on the drum. The reel turns well on a constant check. The faults are a shortened foot on one side/slight damage to the pillar screw and a change to one of the ... morefoot screws which can be seen under a glass. Spins effortlessly with one good turn seeing the spool return many revolutions. Ventilated spool which finishes the reel off perfectly! No wobble! Stamped to the back of the stem Eton. for sale here is a very good vintage nottingham style wooden fishing reel. Stamped"made in england" so possibly an allcocks trade reel, 4.5" twin wooden handles on brass oval plates, brass wingnut and knurled washer, full straight unfiled brass foot/spine, on/off check slider to rear, works well and spins true, good check, very nice clean and tidy example with no chips or splits or buckles. please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week.

Here we have for auction a 4.5" Carter& Co brass& wooden Nottingham fishing reel. Beautiful turned ebonite handles which turn freely set on brass plates. Brass Pawl. Calliper, check gear and bell shaped check latch. Bickerdyke lineguard. Thick cut brass and brass lined to the backplate& flange to the spool. Sounds a good firm click with check engaged with a chime from the brass flange. Spins effortlessly with the check off with one good turn seeing the spool return many revolutions. Stamped to the base of the brass starback CARTER& CO MAKERS LONDON. Made by Smith& Wall for Carter& Co as this victorian maker did& as such stamped to the rear of the brass starback S&W! No wobble! An exceptionally fine and rare Hardy Brothers of Alnwick. 4" 1/4 Brass Face Perfect Salmon fly reel presented in outstanding original condition. With smooth correct brass foot, bridged rim mounted tension adjuster with turks head locking nut, ivorine handle, patented 1903 square line guard and 1904 heavyweight check and nickel silver drum retaining screw. Reel is right hand wind and has a very strong check. Retaining near all of its original leaded finish and faceplate, which is stamped with maker's Rod in Hand and straight line logo, having good original finish.
