Made of brass, and dating to the first half of the 20th century. The reel has a bakelite or vulcanised rubber? handle. An alloy foot, and is impressed to the front of the spool with'S ALLCOCK& CO Ld/ MAKERS/ REDDITCH ENGLAND' in an oval. The reel measures approx 2 3/8" in diameter and is just over 1" deep excluding the handle. Condition: The reel winds well both ways(there is no check) And has a nice patina. There is a small chip from the base of the handle(last photo) and the expected light marks& rubbing to the finish commensurate with age and use.

4 1/2" Heaton's Nottingham Ebonite Starback Centre Pin Reel dating to around 1900/1910. In very good condition throughout. Runs freely and well without any trace of a wobble and only the faintest of knocking when kept in a warm room. Like all ebonite reels it contracts in cold temperatures making the rim tighten up and the spool knock as a result. The reel has a brass backed drum with twin tapered horn handles and brass four screw spring release latch. A Bickerdyke line guard, a German nickel silver rim, a brass starback foot of period style with a sliding optional check button. VINTAGE 3¾” BRASS CENTRE-PIN REEL C1920 Highly collectable This is a wonderful example of a fine. VERY vintage and collectable 3¾ inch solid brass reel dating from approximately the 1920s. It weighs 510 grams(about 1lb 2oz) and has, I think, a mahogany handle which turns OK though a little stiffly. It has three brass bars giving it strength plus a solid brass foot. Each of the brass bars/line guides is screwed firmly into place. I would have liked to take the reel apart but regrettably I didn't have a small enough screwdriver to remove these screws. The brass isn't pitted anywhere and is in excellent condition- I haven't attempted to polish it up as I like to leave the natural patina. Particularly on anything vintage. Not attributed. This auction is for a 3.5" vintage wooden Trout fly reel with a very unusual foot. Rod mounting. In many years of collecting reels I've never seen another reel with this kind of foot. Reel is in good condition with no splits or chips. Handles are ebonite with no damage and with their original brass holding pins and brass mounts. It also has a brass holding centre nut. Reel turns freely and there is a switch on the back plate for turning the ratchet on and off. ratchet is a bit rough but I'm sure it could be adjusted. A nice unusual reel for the collector. This is a nice heavy nottingham style 4" starback reel. Stamped on the rear for A.W. Gamage Holborn. Twin handles on brass mounts, rear on/off check button, good unfiled straight foot, winds well with good strong check. Overall very good clean condition centre pin with what appears to be a brass back to the drum. The only condition issue I can see is a 1 3/4" long chip to the inner edge of the backplate, where it has been dropped at some point. This is shown in photo 3. Allcock Aerial 7950 4 ½” Wide drum. V-check circa 1930s. A large wide drum Aerial. This Aerial had quite a bad wobble when I took charge of it. I have tweaked it and now it has a small wobble, mainly on the rare flange but vastly improved. Does have some minus points: Someone has taken a file to one side of the foot. See photo. Small wobble when spun. Mainly to rare flange. Plus points: Handles are clean and only light marks. Solid line pilars rather than the earlier hollow pilars. Good strong check. I presume that the Reel may have been mounted on a Rod at sometime but it shows no obvious signs of having actually been Fished with. The Box is showing its age but is still there and does the job. Vintage Allcock 'Match' Aerial, 4 1/2" Centre Pin Reel. Boxed.
This is a very nice example of the Allcock'Match' Aerial. 4 1/2" Centre Pin Reel. The reel was being used until fairly recently and he was clearly a person who looked after his kit. The reel spins very well and operates smoothly. It has a solid rear flange and a spoked front flange to the spool. Two of the opposing spokes carry the line tensioner and the spool release catch. The backplate carries the makers Trade Disk. It also has the on/off ratchet switch. The reel is finished in a black enamelled style coating. The box tells the story of the reels heritage in that it is produced under the Shakespeare Noris Decals. The box carries the the reels model number which is C340. The spindle is solid without a hint of play or wobble. With a good flick it spins silently for over 1½ minutes and the ratchet is strong. There is some minor paint loss and there is a small chip out of the rim. This is highlighted in picture 4 with the red pointer. The line guard has been removed and the badge is a replacement copy. Unusual 3 1/2" Caged Nottingham Starback Centre Pin Reel
An unusual 3 1/2ins. Caged Nottingham Starback Centre Pin Reel dating to around 1900. Clearly converted from a standard centre pin the brass pillars of the cage have been tapped off with copper pins. The original handles of the reel have been removed and a single handle added. The original lineguard has also been removed and been replaced with a porcelain lineguard. The central screw head has been replaced with a rubber square. The reel turns well on its spindle. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. A Strikeright 3 1/8" Aduraflo De Luxe Centre Pin Reel in almost mint condition. In full working order. An excellent runner, straight foot, imperceptible wobble, very little wear or paint loss, NEAR MINT. This model was only made in this size. The Strikeright catalogue said of the Aduraflo De Luxe: Replaces the well-established Aduraflo. Ultra-light with all plates in anodised high tensile marine alloy. The centre pin release is a push type which easily releases the drum and rules out the old snag of fumbling with fingernails. The rod saddle is of stainless steel.
