A. Coxe 9/0 reel- $15 0.00 The price of the Coxe reel not only reflected its high quality but also is the reason you just don't see many of them around today. They were built far stronger then the Vom Hofe reels and the gearing is far superior. This nice example is in very good+ condition. The reel has aged nicely and has a warm patina. The foot has been bent so that the reel sits up higher on the rod. I'm not sure why this was done but it appears to have been done intentionally. see photo) The reel is equipped with two sets of harness clips. The reel functions just as it should. Fishing Up for consideration is a vintage J. A. Coxe Model 950 Conventional Reel. This is a nice old reel that functions flawlessly. Cosmetically. The reel is very nice with only minor evidence of corrosion on the seat and skirts of the spool. The remainder of the plated components are in nice shape. The black plastic side covers are free of cracks but there is a very small chip on one of the screw recesses on the left side cover. This is a nice old reel that is somewhat scarce so it is very suitable for fishing or adding to a vintage tackle collection. Vintage J.A.Coxe#1315L conventional reel This reel was made in The USA in the 40s& 50s and is in very good condition. The chrome is a little worn mostly on the cross posts. The gears. Free-spool, drag, level-wind, click are excellent. It has a 3/1 gear ratio and will hold about 250 yds. of 20 lb.test and is a grade 8/8+. It weighs16oz. and was designed primarely for lite saltwater fishing, it comes with a plastic spool and a white handle knob, someone has painted the foot blue, wich is flaking off and should be easy to remove. If you are not happy with an item returns are fine but the buyer pays shipping. The reels I sell are 98% used. And in between 20& 100 years old. Most are far from perfect, so I some times use the Orca grading system, the first no. is how it looks and the second how it works. A 5/5 would be for parts and a 10/10 ... morewould be new. Up for auction an Extremely Nice CIRCA 1950 J.A. COXE- BRONSON REEL CO. NO.95-C"LIGHTWEIGHT" ALUMINUM LEVEL-WIND A-B-L CASTING REEL WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX. INSTRUCTIONS& OTHER PAPERWORK. Built by the J.A. Coxe Division of the Bronson Reel Co. of Bronson, Mich. sometime after WWII. These were touted as some of the lightest reels ever produced and were highly recommended by Bronson for tournament casting. Faceplate is stamped with the" J.A.Coxe" signature logo. While under the foot reads"PAT. APP. FOR- Made In U.S.A. MODEL NO. 95-C- J.A.COXE REEL COMPANY- BRONSON. MICHIGAN" An all-aluminum reel that comes equipped with black anodized sideplates& crank handle, strong clicker, smooth level-wind, strong tailplate-mounted anti-backlash control knob, lightweight aluminum spool with plastic arbor and a tournament ... morehandle with dual plastic grips. Reel is in solid Very Fine condition, showing only very light use. Only a few tiny spots of missing finish, which is excellent for these anodized reels. Displays beautifully. Works perfectly and is extremely smooth-running. Put up in the original box, which is in about Fine condition, with some soiling and staining. It remains quite crisp, solid and complete, with no damage or repairs. Has virtually complete end labels, which are correctly marked for the reel. Comes complete with the#95-C instructions, arbor instructions and Patent list. All show some wear and normal folds, but remain in good condition. A very nice post-war package from Coxe/Bronson, all original and complete. To be sold with a very modest starting bid and NO RESERVE. Vintage J. A. Coxe Reel 25-2 With Fitted Leather Case
This is a used reel. It shows some wear. And it does not work correctly all the time. The spool does not rotate every time when you turn the handle- it appears, to me, that the clutch sometimes engages and sometimes it doesn’t. The adjustment knob on the non handle side of the reel is cracked(see picture) I do not know if this is the source of the problem. The leather case is in very good condition; however. It shows wear at the edges, and various spots on the back, front, and lid. It is stamped“Genuine J A Coxe Tackle Bronson, Michigan” on the bottom. Just part of a nice estate that we are going through right now. This appears to be in good shape and comes from a clean storage environment. It seems to be in good working order. Although it could probably use whatever regular maintenance and lubrication you normally give fishing reels. RARE !! - Vintage J A Coxe Model 1115L bait cast reel
Up for auction is a vintage J A Coxe model 1115L bait cast reel. This reel was made in the 1930-50 time frame by the Bronson Reel Company located in Bronson Michigan. From the size of the reel. I assume this reel was made for fresh water fishing. The reel seems to be in good working order, in fact, you could fish with this reel after adding some line. The clicker is strong, handle turns easily, spool turns freely. This reel could use some cleaning to polish the metal and eliminate minor tarnish/oxidation, plus a good oiling. The side plates are brown in color,but no cracks or splits. The J A Coxe logo is written on the non handle side plate. On the botton of metal piece that fits into reel seat, the wording"Pat. Vintage J.A. Coxe No. 625 saltwater fishing reel good usable
In smooth working condition. This 250 yard reel has star drag, free spool and a good strong click. The reel does have some brassing and plating wear, corrosion on the spool. I did not attempt to clean it and with a little work, it will be better. It would be a good usable reel. Condition, I will say, is good+. And, I will still accept a 7 day return for any item that is misrepresented.
