It trips to the cast release position and will un-trip to the normal retrieve position when turning the handle, it is just that you can push the bail farther down than intended from its normal retrieve position(please notice first two pics to notice the two positions of the bail) When the spool is in its upmost position, the bail will slight rub agains the top of the spool slightly interfering with the bail tripping properly. I believe this is due to the bail positioning as mentioned. ALL other mechanical functions work properly as intended to the best that I can tell. You will notice that the back part of the reel foot is missing a small segment for holding it to the rods reel clamp, but there is plenty of reel foot for attaching the reel to the rods reel clamps, so this has no affect on anything other than appearance. Made In West Germany. This reel seems to work good. It turns good/smooth. On the shaft of the reel handle it has a turn nut, you can turn it to fold the handle for storage. At the base of the reel handle there is a small lever, you can move it up and the reel will only turn reverse, go to the middle position and the reel can turn either way and go to the lower and it will turn only forward. I think the handle can be mounted on the right side as well so it can be used right or left handed. As you look at the pictures you will notice there is mainly paint wear. I opened the bail and turned the reel handle and the bail closed like it should. RARE Vintage Large DAM Quick Super Reversible Open Face Reel - West Germany -
Here is a large Dam Quick Super fishing reel made in West Germany. I believe this can be used for fresh or salt water fishing. The reel is quite large at 7" from front to back. Not including the handle. Across the front it measures 4 1/4" at its widest point. The reel shows a little wear, part of the rubber band on the inside is missing. It seems to work fine with no problems that I can see. It has an adjustable lever by the handle which allows it to run in either direction, the lever also has a middle setting which allows it to turn either way without any clicking noise. Though the housing itself looks ver good, there are a few small flakes o the left edge of the reel foot. The manual is in very good condition. Available for auction today is a Dam Quick#330 spare fishing reel spool made in germany. The spool is in great shape with no cracks or scratches in the plastic as you can see from the pictures. The spare spool has never been mounted to a reel and fished so it is basically brand new. The box it comes in shows some wear and tear on it from sitting around which u can also see from the photos.The spool does come with line on it. As the orginal owner probably had it filled for a back up. So if you are gonna use the spool right away i would recomended changing the fishing line. HARD TO FIND DAM QUICK 800 SERIES CHAMPION LEVEL WIND REEL. The reel is in perfect condition but needs an end cap. All functions seem to work perfectly. Star Drag. Cast release lever and casting control settings. Level Wind and quick disasemble with the three thumb screws on the handle side. Counter Balanced Handle.
