Vintage Antique 3" brass & alloy trout centrepin fishing reel
Here we have for auction an alloy and brass centrepin fishing reel in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with brass screw- removable alloy handles set on a ventilated spool with brass centre. Bell shaped brass check latch and a offset brass pawl. This quality reel little reel has a very strong optional check that when switched over sounds a nice firm click. With the check off the spool turns nice& smooth on the turn and one good spin will see the spool return many revolutions with absolutely no wobble! Stamped to centre of the brass spool PAT APPD FOR. Here we have for auction a perfect pattern alloy trout fishing reel in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with brass screw- removable ebonite handle. Ventilated spool, brass strap over rim tension screw, straight- smooth unfiled brass foot, brass tension mechanism and blue steel pawl. This quality reel little reel has a very strong constant check that sounds a nice firm click. The tension screw& mechanism work just fine applying good tension to the spool. 3 1/2ins. Ogden Smiths Dingley (D) '2' Alloy Trout Reel
An Ogden Smiths 3 1/2ins Alloy and Brass Trout Reel dating to the 1930's. Stamped Ogden Smiths LONDON to the backplate. The style and form of this reel suggest it was made by Walter Dingley as does the presence of a partially obscured stamp'2' to the interior of the backplate just above the foot of the check spring. In all likelihood the spring obscures the'D' which would have preceded the 2. Making this a Dingley D2. In terms of style and form the reel displays many characteristics of a Dingley reel including the angular casting, raised cone on the backplate housing the spindle, the squared off recess surrounding the spindle inside, the blued check spring and the collar around the foot of the reel handle which is made of a 1930's plastic composite. The reel retains almost all of its original leading even if the foot ... morehas been cleaned at some point in its life. The faceplate has been engraved. Probably by the original owner R.B.L. Please note there are two minor line burns which are negligible to the bottom pillar as well as residue of silk line dressing on the inside of the drum/spool and on the inside of one or two of the pillars. This can be removed with a cotton bud and some warm water. The check works well and is tight. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. Here we have for auction a J.J.S. walker Bampton Alnwick 3.5" fly reel. White crazed handle which turns freely. Brass screw set on nickel rim. Alloy straight foot set with two screws. Light line groove to one of the pillars. Retaining a very good overall leaded finish. Steel pawl& check gear. Sounds a delightful crisp click from the constant check. A1 vintage tiny alloy slater heatons platewind style trout fly fishing reel 2.5"
for sale here is a lovely little platewind style alloy trout reel. Surely made for the trade by reuben heatons or slater, tiny 2.5" constant caliper check, full straight unfiled alloy foot, cowhorn handle, nice little reel and winds well with good check, no buckles line burns or damage.nice example in a smaller size. i have dressed it with some old line too, please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week.
