Boxed Allcocks Match Aerial Vintage Centrepin Fishing Reel
A fine example of this reel in excellent overall condition and full working order. 4 ½” in diameter. And a spool width of approximately 9/16 th of an inch. Model C340 was introduced by Allcocks in 1965 and was produced until 1971. It was by far the most popular Aerial style reel. All aerials were manufactured for Allcocks to retail by J W Young& Co and the inside back plate for this reel is impressed JWY 468. This indicates a casting date of April 1968. So the reel was probably made shortly thereafter. Comes complete with original box that is showing its age.

Vintage Edge Elite, 4 1/2" Centrepin Fishing Reel.
This is an excellent example of the'Edge Elite' Centrepin or Trotting Fishing Reel. The reel measures 4 1/2" in diameter and is in excellent working order. The reel spins smoothly and there is no undue wobble on the spindle. It measures 1 5/8" from edge to edge with a spool gape of 1 1/16" which is fairly wide for a centrepin. The spool is ventilated and has its cross bar set fairly close to the rims of the spool making for a healthy line retrieve. The reel is fitted with a selective ratchet which is working effectively. If you are looking for a good reel to use then you could do a lot worse than this reel. As you can see from the bacl plate there is some loss of finish to the black coating but this is from honest use rather than abuse. The reel is a good example of its type and would not be a bad collectors piece.

Vintage K. Dowling & Son 3 7/8" Centrepin Fishing Reel.
This reel is in first class condition. It has a black coated back plate and front face of the spool. The rear flange of the spool is anodised blue. I therefore guess that this is a later model. The only real signs of use are some chipping to the end of the reel seat. It has a selective ratchet and drilled holes for locating a line guide. I do not have the line guide and one has neer been attached. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Item Photos, Hello and welcome to the auction and thank you for viewing.This is for an old.Unusual centrepin reel.This reel was amongst some items which I purchased from a very local elderly gentleman.There were a number of similar reels and two had a stamp on the backplate of Moores Pat.App.For.The others were unmarked but clearly all of a kind.All the reels were of a similar design and were designed to run on ball bearings.They may be examples that never went in to production.This reel has a diameter of 8.5cm.or a little over 3.25 inches and there is an optional check which is operated by a rim lever.There are twin handles which are mounted on to a bar.The handles look to be leaning in a little but this may be because the bar is a little bent and probably how the reel was constructed to possibly facilitate the rear nuts which hold the handles. ... moreThe reel itself is generally in good condition but not running very freely.In the upright position it runs better but not freely on it's back when it is also noiser.There is some wear to the chromed finish to the underside of the foot and to the integral chromed stanchion.There is a single drilled hole to the backplate rim edge of about 3.5mm.in diameter which is redundant and close to an original flat rivet head to the backplate.There are also four small'flaws' to the rear rim edge which may be as the metal was made and another small hole to the backplate which looks as if it was made before a change of plan in construction.Both small holes were probably made as the reel was being built.The single rear flat rivet head is fixed but shows rust signs. I have for sale a good working example of the Allcocks Black Knight Centre Pin Fishing Reel. The reel is as the name suggests black in colour and is 3 1/2" in diameter. It has a selective ratchet. The switch being on the back plate. The good thing about this reel is that it retains its glued on Allcocks Nameplate. Vintage and rare C.R.LEE SHEFFIELD Centrepin Fishing Reel
Very nice condition centrepin from C.R. Lee of Sheffield. The spool measures 4" diameter and 3/4" inner spool Spool and backplate are aluminium and reel foot and 12 spool bracing bars are brass. Steel spindle. A few years ago the rather make-shift spring clip which applied tension to the little spool release switch. Fell off and vanished. I replaced it by fitting 10lbs bs clear power-gum around the base of the brass spindle bush inside the spool and over the bottom of the release switch. It's worked fine for many years. This is discreet and just about be seen in the 3rd picture with the reel lying down. In Sheffield style there is no ratchet fitted. This is a very free-running centrepin and spins for about 90 secs with a good flick. A nice looking reel and not an easy one to put down! Is a 1930's GEORGE CURL FISHING REEL that is an early hand made version in SOLID BRASS! The tolerances are very fine between spool and backing plate, BAKELITE handle has characteristic wear from age, and the reel has all the wonderful traits of a genuine hand made Curl reel, see close ups. It has line check option, and a sweet sounding crisp drag that you will never hear like this. It would wake you from any sleep if a big mulloway took your bait, guaranteed! Made locally here in Mt. Gambier, he's reels have become the prize in collections due to their supreme quality make. George was a genius, and worked at the Varcoe Foundry, making many of the historic plaques on monuments around the city. This is the only ... morechance you will ever get to own a genuine George Curl fishing solid brass reel, there would not be another this good, so do not miss out! To the best of my knowledge, it was made in the late 1930s. Pictures show condition well, as GOOD with one brass nut missing from spool. It measures 3 5/8 inches diameter, by 1 1/2 inches wide from spool face to back plate. Even with it's small size, anyone who has used one, will vouch that it is quite capable of landing a very heavy fish, and they were designed for this, these reels are indestructible!
