The 2000 was one of seven of the series of free spool models. The reel was not serialized but stamped"Made in Sweden" on the foot. The large knurled aluminum knob is part of the drag system which was incorporated into the handle. By tightening the knob to a desired tension. You could apply drag washer pressure against the drive gear assembly which is similar to the conventional star drag wheel. Holding the handle still you will notice the knurled knob rotating when the fish made his run. This reel is rare to find in this condition in its original box. Vintage New Record Casting Reel. American Multiplying Spinning Reel.
The pattern of this reel is of a fairly standard design for an American style. Multiplying Spinning Reel. The reel has Ebonite end plates which are set in nickel plated bands. The end plates are connected with nickel plated pillars. The reel is fitted with a selective ratchet. The foot is stamped with the number 80. The handle is made of a white. Natural material! and is counter balanced. I had to lok fairly closely to find the makers name stamped or engraved into the end plate. It has probably worn from repeated handling. The reel measures 2 1/8" wide with the end plates being 2" in diameter. Vintage J W Young & Son 'The Ambidex' Casting Reel
This is an auction for a vintage J W Young& Son(Redditch) The Ambidex' casting reel which I understand from web research dates from 1959. It has been used. Many a time, by my Great Uncle, but it's time for someone to have it and appreciate it- it's been dry stored for about 15 years now. It has some signs of wear and tear, as you can see from the photographs- there are some areas where the paint has come off from the base of the reel, but there are no dents or major scratches. The action is smooth, if a little stiff, but I suspect this is due to a lack of maintenance. The bail arm goes over and returns on a single turn of the handle with no problems at all. The anti-reverse works as you would expect. The reel looks like it's loaded with probably 6lb breaking strain line at the moment, and this is quite likely to be as ... moreold as I am! Very Rare vintage wooden Trout reel with turnable rod mounting for easy casting
This auction is for a very rare 3.5" vintage fly reel with a turnable rod mounting for easy casting. The reel itself is in superb condition and has a permenant ratchet systen that is turned on and off using a brass switch on the back of the reel. The reel attaches to the rod in the usual way but once in place it can be turned sideways to the rod(as you can see in picture 3) for easy casting like an early fixed spool reel. In all my years of collecting I've only seen one reel like this before which I sold to America for $140. Nice collectors item. Both are in excellent condition! It was made by the'South Bend Bait Co. in the USA around 1907. This reel is over 100 years old. The foot is clearly stamped with; PAT'D SEPT 5 1905& FEB 5 1907' It is made from German Silver and has Red Agate Jewells on the front& back faces. It has a check mechanism and when engaged gives an audible clicking sound. It winds very smoothly with no rubbing. It also has adjustable drag and the knob/handle is also in excellent condition with no cracks or splits. The edges of the reel shows NO signs of wear. Dingley or Walter as he was known. Worked for some of the best fishing tackle manufacturers including"Hardy Brothers" for 20 years, and became a skilled reel maker. His reels are now recognised as the work of a great craftsman. The reel measures 4 inches across and has" D 1" and"7" stamped inside the reel. The reel revolves ok but has a rub at one point. The casting trigger and the tension regulator work fine. The spring release latch works, but the drum is tight in the cage and is a ... morelittle dfficult to remove. There is no play in the spool when it is rocked. There are no splits or cracks to the cage but there are two small chips to the drum rim. As well as the usual scuffs and marks. The twin ivorine handles are well attached and sturdy. As is the smooth brass foot, the foot does have a bend to one end. This is a nice example of a rare"Dingley" reel and is so evocative of times and anglers past. Side Casting Salmon Fishing Reel by Mulloch of Perth, Antique
ANTIQUE/VINTAGE FISHING REEL BY MULLOCH OF PERTH. A good 4 inch. 10.5cm side casting fishing reel by Malloch of Perth. Constructed from brass, designed to exchange the drum by removing a screw. It has a sprung steel catch to change from casting to retrieving the line and also from left to right handed use. The large guide eye remains stationary on the fixed arm allowing the line to pass through in which ever position the reel is being used. The convex surface on the flange on the casting side assists in the escape of the line. The Malloch’s Patent oval logo is stamped on the winding plate. Peter Malloch was born in Almondbank. Near Perth in Scotland in 1853. With his brother James they went into business in 1875 as Taxidermists and fishing tackle suppliers. for sale here is a very good good allcock stanley threadline reel. Open gear model, overall excellent as can be seen with most bronzing finish still intact, no damage dents buckles or flaws at all, rarer model in fine collectors condition, comes in original box which is also very fine but is missing one cork holding ring from side wall, the spare spool locking nut which holds the ring in place is still present in the box though. nice clean and tidy example of a very rare reel this one. please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week.

Rare Abu Ambassadeur 5000c 4 screw model. foot number 34686. Rare. Vintage ambassadeur 5000c, 4 screw version. foot number 34686. a super chance to add to your vintage reel collection here with this very early ambassadeur dating from the 1960's. Superb working order. Still a great smooth reel to fish with but probably destined for the cabinet. Lovely chrome sits well against the black side plates and handle, smooth clutch and tough gearing allow you to play your catch, whilst the stainless bearings allow for some smooth casting. Dual tension control aids casting too whatever the conditions or lure size. The chrome is in very good clean condition, the plates have had scattered wear sympathetically touched in to avoid future issues. Once again a great reel to fish or collect.
