Here is a nice vintage English made fishing reel. It is in good clean used condition with good finish and slight marking of the metal(see clear pictures to decide before bidding) It is a nice 4 inch diameter fly reel with lovely smooth wind and good clear constant check. Minimal usage wear and contains an amount of old fly line, possibly silk but not sure as fully loaded. It is stamped with the makers mark clearly. I have tried to show clear pictures and the inside of the reel also. Very nice reel and rarely seen for sale and highly desirable for the vintage tackle and lure collector. Vintage JW Young Rapidex Trotting Reel This is a nice vintage centrepin reel. Made by J W Young& Sons of Redditch,England. A centre pin reel designed for trotting light line. The reel measures 4 inches in diameter. The spool is narrow at approx 1/2 inch wide. It is in very good working order. With a strong on off check. With the check lever in the off position the reel spins smoothly with no apparent wobble. The finish is generally good.Although there are signs of wear in places. The spool suffers light wear around the edges. There is further light wear of the black bobble finish on the face of the spool. The reverse of the reel has some wear to the black bobble finish.A few light scratches and again wear to the finish around the edge of the reel. Vintage Sheffield Style Centrepin Trotting Reel This is a nice vintage centrepin reel. Usually described as Sheffield style. No makers name, the quality of engineering is very good,so i dont know if these were homemade or factory made in spare time for example. A centre pin reel designed for trotting light line. The reel measures 4 1/4 inches in diameter. The spool is narrow at approx 11/16 inch wide. The spool depth is also shallow at about 3/8 inches. The reel is made of alloy with internal brass fittings. It is in very good working order. With a strong on off check. With the check lever in the off position the reel spins smoothly for ages, with no apparent wobble. The finish is good and clean. With no significant marking or scratches. Although the finish is showing some age with a general dull mottling effect. Internally the condition ... moreis very good. Apart from the following! The only significant problem with the reel can hopefully been seen on my photos? Inside the spool. On the pillar that bears the brass cog, the metal of the pillar has split. The splits goes from the top of the pillar to the bottom,and is difficult for me to measure but is maybe 1mm wide. I dont know if this is significant? Or if it can be supported or repaired? Currently it seems to have no effect on the performance of the reel. I have no idea how long the split has been there.Maybe for a long time, and whether it is getting worse or not. The rim lever and regulator screw appear to work fine and the reel revolves well. With no play to the spool. The smooth brass foot, stamped"Pat. No.272409" is well attached and sturdy. The handles are solid and secure, however, one is stiff and doesn't revolve as it should. The handle to rim lever has some small chips to the top. However, there are some small patches of light surface corrosion to the back plate, this is mentioned for clarity and I have tried to show this in the pictures.There is also a missing brass nut to the back plate. VINTAGE BRASS 3 1/4 INCH FISHING REEL This collectable vintage reel is in good condition for its age. It is quite tarnished with a lightly pitted area near the engraving(see last Photo) There is a very small bruise/dent at 2 o'clock(with foot at 6) on the outer rim on the handle side and a few marks around the handle. Please use the photos provided to help you judge the general condition. The reel spins freely and has a nice positive click. The foot is also in very good order. It would make a nice project for someone to polish up.

The reel is in generally good condition. Although the spool release is a bit stiff. If there is supposed to be a spring in that mechanism then it is likely broken or missing. Apart from that fault. The other mechanical aspects of the reel appear to be working OK. These being a regulator,check and a spool brake. The finish is generally good.Although there are signs of wear in places. The spool has patches of wear to the face. Internally the finish is good. Although currently a bit oily so will benefit from a clean and service. The body of the spool again shows some wear in places.Mainly around the edge. Centre pin reel designed for trotting. The reel(spool) measures 4 3/8 inches in diameter. The spool is narrow at approx 5/8 inch wide. The spool depth is also shallow at about 3/8 inches. It has a ventilated spool.With 8 struts. It is in very good working order. With an adjustable brake. With the brake lever in the off position the reel spins smoothly for ages. With no significant wobble. There is a reversible line guard to allow for left or right hand wind. The finish is generally very good and clean. The spool has few small areas of loss of finish.But over 99% remains on the spool. Vintage 4 Inch"Westley Richards" The Rolo" Dingley" Salmon Reel This fabulous"Westley Richards- The Rolo" reel is in"as found" condition and has not been restored or repaired by us. Made by renowned reel maker"Walter Dingley" This is a good example of his superb craftsmanship. The reel measures 4 1/4 inches across and has"Westley Richards and Co. Ltd. Birmingham" and"The Rolo" impressed in to the back plate and has a factory quarter rim cut out. The reel still revolves well with a good smooth action and the brake and check mechanisms seem to work fine. There is no play when the spool is rocked. The ivorine handles ... moreare well attached. The smooth brass foot is sturdy and well attached. It is stamped"5" to one side. Internally the reel is stamped"D 881" There are no cracks or splits to the reel that I can find and the reel has retained much of its' original finish and has usual light wear marks from years of use. However, it does have one or two small deeper scratches to the back plate, I have tried to show these in the photographs. All in all a fine reel that would grace any collection.
