Vintage Shimano TwinPower 4000 GTX Rare Fishing Reel
Up for sale is a Classic Twinpower 4000 GTX made in Japan. This reel dates back to the early 90's and sports some of Shimano's early designs such as the first edition of AEROWRAP line Oscillation(worm gear) and also shocked to see a double spool bearing design. I recently opened this reel up and removed all the old wax like grease and hand polished each individual part then given a coat of fresh precision blue grease. This reel does not have the Super Stopper ARB bearing as it was before its time but a very reliable anti reverse Dog design which the clicking can be both heard and felt while reeling the reel. The reel also dates back before they corrected the slight wobble as all old reels have had but its still way ahead of its time. Also this reel boasts over 20lbs of drag(8kg) which is huge for an early 90's spinning reel. This ... moreis a very rare Japanese TwinPower and new back then was almost $300. It would make a great collectors reel or can go back on the water tomorrow on a vintage rod. Vintage Hardy" The Silex Major" 3 3/4 Inch Reel This lovely Hardy's"Silex Major" reel is in"as found" Used condition and has not been restored or repaired by us. The reel measures 3 3/4 inches across and has"The Silex Major. Pat. Nos. 2206, 21131& 4163, Size 3 3/4" Made By Hardy Bros Ltd, Alnwick, England" impressed in to the back plate. The rim regulator screw and dial work fine. As does the brake lever. The reel revolves well and has a good action. The alloy release latch works fine and ribbed brass foot is well attached and sturdy. The handles are solid and secure. The front plate retains some of the original finish. However, there is some pitting ... morethe a section of the rim and some"line burn" marks to the struts. But nothing that detracts from the oveall appearance of the reel. Internally the reel is stamped with the initials T.A. Which I believe, is the name of the gentleman who made the reel, Thomas Appleby, he worked for Hardy's from 1920- 1947. The does have the usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use. All adds to its' character and charm, so evocative of times and anglers past. This is a used vintage Penn Reels Senator 9/0 fishing reel that is in good condition for its age. Please see pictures. The last picture is of the yellow handle torpedo knob showing a brown crack in it. This same picture also shows some scars on the handle(chrome part) where this yellow torpedo knob attaches. The outer chrome rings are not cracked. I bought this reel off of E-bay about two years ago. I removed the old fishing cord that it was spooled with. My plan was to use this reel for high speed wahoo trolling on a short bent butt rod. After doing more research on the wahoo high speed trolling I decided to go with a Penn 80 International reel for an even stronger drag system which is needed for high speed trolling. Paypal only. This is another very old Vintage/ Antique brass 2 1/4" ENRIGHT& SONS' platewind fishing reel. It is clearly stamped on the front plate with the maker's name; ENRIGHT& SON- CASTLE CONNELL' This particular reel dates back to around pre 1880(could be earlier) After this date they stamped their name within an oval logo. Enright& Son' can be found in Phil Waller's book; Fishing Reels' Collecting for all' Vol. 1 pages 39. The reel turns very smoothly with no rubbing. The back plate has the oil hole for servicing the reel. There is a very slight ding to the edge of the back plate which can hardly be seen. The foot is in excellent condition and has the cut away design of that early era. The is no corrosion or pitting to the reel. The handle/knob is in excellent condition with no splits or cracks. Vintage Hardy Bros. 4½” Longstone Fishing Reel Circa 1930’s
Up for auction is this older Hardy Bros. 4 ½ inch Longstone single action fishing reel. This reel has had a new drum piece replaced by a retired master reel craftsman from England that used to work for Hardy Bros. It has two large ebonite tapered handles and a brass ribbed foot which is attached to the frame with four brass screws. This reel also has an on/off casting/ratchet lever located on the side of the frame and a knurled drag adjustment knob located in the center of the drum. It is mechanically sound throughout and the drum spins very freely and true. Hardy’s name. Reel name and patent number 24245 is stamped on the back of the cage. In addition. There is an oval silver plate attached to the back of the reel with the inscription“Made For Manton and Co. Calcutta” Circa mid 1930’s making this reel approximately 75 years old! Square aluminium tin for fishing flies, made by Richard Wheatley, as you can see from the logo on the bottom flap of the tin(last photo) The tin is 10.9cm x 10.9cm x 2cm and contains 12 sheets with altogether 35 flies, which are tied to leader lines, plus there are more flies and leaders in the bottom of the tin. The tin has become a bit mottled looking with age, but is structurally sound, and all the flies and lines have been well looked after and are tidily arranged in the tin. The foot has a very clear 5 on the front edge of the food Stainless steel screws on the cover plate. It has been paint stripped and polished(not easy as normal paint stripper does not touch the paint used on later Mitchell reels) its not a perfect mirror polish as it is cast aluminum and can only be polished to a point. It looks great and could be used without fear of damaging any paintwork, it has been serviced and works well. The reel has a shallow cross head clutch screw spool fitted. The bailarm. Anti reverse and bail arm lock works as it should, the bail arm chrome is fairly good and bright with a few marks and light wear. A nice vintage match reel to use. Fly Fishing Creel Side Hole Leather Accents French Weave Vintage Sports Trout
Up for auction today I have an absolutely beautiful Vintage French Weave Fly Fishing Creel with Side Hole and Leather Accents. It has two straps. One long strap for over the shoulder and a shorter strap/handle. All of the leather is intact but does show signs of wear and exposure to the elements. It has a factory embossed ruler across the top of the lid that measures up to 8" Right above the ruler are the words"Made in British Hong Kong" they are wearing off but are still readable. The lid fastens shut with a leather strap and buckle that functions well. This creel is well used but still very useable or for display. The measurements are 14" wide x 7" high x 5-1/2" deep. here is a great 4 inch salmon reel made by jimmy smith reel maker at alnwick england. the reel is in fantastic working order with no play on spindle or any faults at all. The only thing i can see that i must point out is the tiny bit of pitting on the one part of the edge, you can see this in pics it really makes no difference to the reel at all. it has chunky black handle and ribbed brass foot. this is a sort after reel at a great price ready for the new season.i do not wish to put down any other salmon reels for sale on ebay but if you look you will see that the salmon perfects i have for sale are in far better condition compared to the others listed and far cheaper starting price. Vintage Heatons Zephyr Style Centrepin Reel. Wood and Alloy 3 1/8"
This is an excellent example of the combination alloy and wood. Centrepin reel by Heatons. The reel is in good useable condition and it spins well. It measures 3 1/8" in diameter and has a cast alloy back plate to which, you find the line guide and ratchet button attached. The reel has a riveted brass foot. The spool is made of turned wood and has a concentric line decoration to its face. The rear flange of the spool os alloy. The alloy central hub has the 4 screw Heatons latch and an adjustable spindle pivot screw. This allows you to balance the spool. The reel is fitted with twin horn handles.

Mitchell 3rd version reel A nice example of this classic reel. M ade by Mitchell in France 1950- 52. Serial number B81958. Used but still in really good working order. Just add line if you want to use it. It winds smoothly with a lovely gentle pur from the crosswind gears. The bail returns nicely when you wind the handle and the optional anti reverse locks as it should. Much of t he black paint finish remains but there are rubbed areas showing red primer in places. The revolving plate is nicely sculpted and the knob is of beautifully polished horn. The click is strong, the foot is unaltered and the reel retains a generous amount of its original bronzing. Circa 1890. Possibly by Malloch or Slater. Very similar in looks and construction to a Hardy Birmingham reel. A very well made reel in excellent condition.
