Hello and welcome to the auction and thank you for viewing.This is for an old and original.Very comprehensive Allcocks Anglers Guide and catalogue for 1939-1940 in very good condition,from the famous Redditch firm and maker's of the Allcock Aerial reel.There are 232 pages and the original card covers and many illustrations of their fishing tackle of the day.The illustrations include a number of colour plates and the catalogue is very clean and tidy inside.Many forms of fishing tackle are listed and illustrated including the Allcock Aerial centrepin reel and the Aerial Match centrepin reel(referred to as a'New addition'Other reels include the Brighton,the Flick'Em,the No.2 Easicast,the Duplex,the Superb,the Felton Crosswind,the Allcock Stanley,the Aerialite,the Salar ... moreand others.The lures listed include Feathero minnows(illustrated in colour) and the Dazzle lure.On page 15 under the heading'Fishing Extraordinary' there is an account of three salmon being caught on rozch tackle by F.W.K.Wallis from the River Avon near Christchurch on Allcock tackle including an Allcock Wallis Wizard rod.The largest salmon weighing 32lbs.There are also articles including two by Faddist which are: Roach Fishing,Notes for the Novice and Hemp Seed Fishing.The Anglers Guide weighs about 321 grams unpacked and is about 1.1cm. thick. The condition is very good with a strong binding and with what looks to be virtually the whole of the spine intact.There is mild rubbing to the surface of the covers and a bit of creasing to the bottom right hand corner of the front cover and a minor.Mild crease line of about 3.2cm. to the top right hand corner of the back cover.Slight scattered marking signs to the bottom third of the front and back covers.Mild staple rust marking to the spine.There are no inscriptions.Overall a very nice example of this catalogue. Here I have a great old well used allcock aerial centrepin fishing reel. This reel works ok there seems To be a very slight rub as it spins but very faint. As you can see from the pics the foot looks newish or maybe just well looked after? Allcock Aerial 7950 4 ½” Wide drum. V-check circa 1930s. A large wide drum Aerial. This Aerial had quite a bad wobble when I took charge of it. I have tweaked it and now it has a small wobble, mainly on the rare flange but vastly improved. Does have some minus points: Someone has taken a file to one side of the foot. See photo. Small wobble when spun. Mainly to rare flange. Plus points: Handles are clean and only light marks. Solid line pilars rather than the earlier hollow pilars. Good strong check. Vintage Allcock 'Match' Aerial, 4 1/2" Centre Pin Reel. Boxed.
This is a very nice example of the Allcock'Match' Aerial. 4 1/2" Centre Pin Reel. The reel was being used until fairly recently and he was clearly a person who looked after his kit. The reel spins very well and operates smoothly. It has a solid rear flange and a spoked front flange to the spool. Two of the opposing spokes carry the line tensioner and the spool release catch. The backplate carries the makers Trade Disk. It also has the on/off ratchet switch. The reel is finished in a black enamelled style coating. The box tells the story of the reels heritage in that it is produced under the Shakespeare Noris Decals. The box carries the the reels model number which is C340. Vintage Allcock Aerial Popular, 3 1/2" Centrepin Spinning Reel.
This is a good usable example of the Allcocks Aerial'Popular' 3 1/2" Diameter Centre Pin Reel. The reel spins well, has twin xylonite handles and a brass foot. The pictures are a good reflection of the reels cosmetic condition with the black finish showing considerable wear. It is also a bit dusty but will clean up well. You are seeing the reel as it came out of the tackle bag. The reel has six spokes and the spool release and tension adjuster are located on two of these. The ratchet selector switch is on the back plate. There is a slight bed to one end of the foot where somebody has rushed to remove it from the rod rings. S. Allcock& Co. Aerial"Popular" Center Pin Reel No. 689467 This reel is in very good working order. It has the Stage trade mark. It looks to be made of some type of aluminum. The spool spins freely and the clicker button works. It measures 4" wide on the side of the handles and 4 3/16" on the other side. It measures 1 3/4" wide and inside the drum measures 1 1/4" wide. It has a heavy green braided line on it. Please use the pictures to judge the condition for yourself. All of our lures are packed well and shipped in boxes with hook protectors.
