SUPERB QUALITY MODEL HEATON'S ZEPHYR CENTREPIN WOOD BRASS ALLOY
In excellent condition. 4" top of the range model zephyr centrepin. Not named but from the Reuben HEaton factory circa 1930s. Note quality features including pale bone handles in cupped eyeplates. Machined aliminium backplate and spring latch with decorative concentrics, steel blued pawl with nickel silvered, rustproof caliper spring, waisted perfect foot, large barrel for fast retrieve. Minimal signs of use. This reel spins silently and freely, and the check is very strong and crisp. A pleasure to use or display. Any questions. Please ask.

Vintage Antique 3" brass & alloy trout centrepin fishing reel
Here we have for auction an alloy and brass centrepin fishing reel in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with brass screw- removable alloy handles set on a ventilated spool with brass centre. Bell shaped brass check latch and a offset brass pawl. This quality reel little reel has a very strong optional check that when switched over sounds a nice firm click. With the check off the spool turns nice& smooth on the turn and one good spin will see the spool return many revolutions with absolutely no wobble! Stamped to centre of the brass spool PAT APPD FOR. A Vintage Pflueger Progress 60( Yard) Skeletal Centre-pin Brass Fly Fishing Reel dating to the early 20th Century. And made in the U.S.A. The Reel is all in good working order including the Button operated Ratchet Brake/ Regulator. The Handle has a little lateral movement but is still very serviceable and not about to fall off. With overall signs of age. Use and subsequent patina, but in good condition and working well with no structural issues or major damage. An excellent piece of Vintage Fishing Tackle. Is a 1930's GEORGE CURL FISHING REEL that is an early hand made version in SOLID BRASS! The tolerances are very fine between spool and backing plate, BAKELITE handle has characteristic wear from age, and the reel has all the wonderful traits of a genuine hand made Curl reel, see close ups. It has line check option, and a sweet sounding crisp drag that you will never hear like this. It would wake you from any sleep if a big mulloway took your bait, guaranteed! Made locally here in Mt. Gambier, he's reels have become the prize in collections due to their supreme quality make. George was a genius, and worked at the Varcoe Foundry, making many of the historic plaques on monuments around the city. To the best of my knowledge, it was made in the late 1930s. Pictures show condition well, as GOOD with one brass nut missing from spool.
