BRASS LEVEL WIND FISHING REEL FROM THE 1800'S OR EARLIER (VERY OLD)
HERE IS AN OLD FISHING REEL I BOUGHT AT AN AUCTION IN COCOA FLORIDA. I CLEANED IT UP A LITTLE BUT YOU CAN STILL SEE ITS AGE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE REEL OUT AND FROM WHAT I CAN FIND IT IS EXTREMELY OLD. FISHING REELS HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE AT LEAST THE 1100'S AND FROM WHAT I CAN TELL I BELIEVE THIS ONE TO BE FROM THE 1700'S OR 1800'S. THERE IS NO NAME ON IT AND I AM NO EXPERT AND WOULD LUV TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU KNOW MORE ABOUT IT. IN THE MID TO LATE 1800'S REELS LIKE THIS ALREADY HAD GEARS AND THIS ONE DOES NOT. MY JEWELER LOOKED AT IT AND SAID IT IS MADE OF SOLID BRASS. I THINK THIS REEL WOULD BE GREAT IN SOMEONES LIBRARY OR IN SOMEONES OFFICE. WHAT A TREASURE! Ultra Rare Hardy All Brass Perfect 2 5/8" Houghton Dry Fly Reel c1890's
Up for action is an Ultra Rare Hardy All Brass Perfect measuring 2 5/8" in diameter. This size is actually referred to as the"Houghton" Dry Fly reel made for the elite Houghton Fishing Club who's members included Royals and Aristocrats sporting trout on the famed Thames River. England during the early 1890's. The reel is in near excellent but uncleaned condition as pictured, with no cracks anywhere. The reel's action is silky smooth with a strong click and adjustable drag with a creamy butter handle. Please take note that the center screw has broken off(as pictured) but can be easily repaired. The reel case is NOT included in the bidding.

SCARCE 2 1/4" Vintage / Antique Brass 'ENRIGHT & SON' Platewind Fishing Reel.
This is another very old Vintage/ Antique brass 2 1/4" ENRIGHT& SONS' platewind fishing reel. It is clearly stamped on the front plate with the maker's name; ENRIGHT& SON- CASTLE CONNELL' This particular reel dates back to around pre 1880(could be earlier) After this date they stamped their name within an oval logo. Enright& Son' can be found in Phil Waller's book; Fishing Reels' Collecting for all' Vol. 1 pages 39. The reel turns very smoothly with no rubbing. The back plate has the oil hole for servicing the reel. There is a very slight ding to the edge of the back plate which can hardly be seen. The foot is in excellent condition and has the cut away design of that early era. The is no corrosion or pitting to the reel. The handle/knob is in excellent condition with no splits or cracks. Antique S Allcock Brass Centre Wooden Ratcheted 3" Fishing Reel
Antique S. Allcocks ratchet. Wooden and brass reel. Found this reel today in my Fathers shed. He no longer uses it so i've given it a polish and its offered here today. It has a 3 inch diameter. Brass is stamped as shown in the photos. Original boxwood handles with brass rings are in good condition. Ratchet works although the reel is a bit stiff to wind as expected. I'd imagine it needs some tlc after all these years. A nice fresh to the market find. Don't miss out! Offered at a low start price with no reserve so it will find its own value. I cannot find a maker’s name but the spool measures 12 cm or nearly 5 inches across. The backplate. Spool and knobs are made of brown Bakelite and the rod mount and turning mechanism are made of brass. The reel pivots and this type of reel is mostly called a side cast. It had a ratchet but this is not working. It is in very good cosmetic condition with no chips or cracks. It weighs 660g unpacked. The spool is quite wide and would take a large amount of line. Item Photos, Hello and welcome to the auction and thank you for viewing.Listing for a client this is old vintage brass fishing reel by Hogg of Edinburgh.The diameter is approximately 5.8cm.There is quite a long.Correct,original,unfiled foot which is approximately 8.15 cm. in length and is held by two original rivets.The original black handle,which sits on an original brass base,is also quite long for a small reel and measures approximately 2.2cm. in length.The handle plate is held by two small screws which can be removed to release it.Mr.Graham Turner in his book Fishing Tackle The Ultimate Collector's Guide lists Francis Hogg as trading in Edinburgh from 1837-1887.This nineteenth century date is supported by the long foot with twin,single independent rivets. My father now old and frail is clearing out his study. And has a few Fishing related books etc.I can combine shipping with any book or other item he is selling. This is a very old fishing reel in Bakelite(we think) and brass. It has a brake stop lever but it doesn't work so we think something is missing. Probably a spring to pull the brake stop into position. Otherwise it is a lovely old reel without damage or chips. Here is a nice vintage wood and brass fishing reel. It is in good used condition with slight marking and possible repair(see clear pictures to decide before bidding) It is a nice wooden reel with air holes and a nice clean solid brass spine and foot stamped with Eton Sun. I have shown as clear a picture as I could of a possible repair to the reel but other than that. It is nice, clean and spins really well. Vintage Bakelite Fishing Reel with Brass Fittings. Good Condition.
This is a very old Vintage Bakelite reel with brass fittings. The reel is unnamed and in good condition with no cracks or chips. The inside of the reel has brass pillars that the line winds onto. These pillars are secured by brass round head screws. The knobs are secured on brass plates and are also in good condition. It turns very freely and smoothly with the drag being adjusted by tightening the front brass wing nut. It is a large reel measuring 6" in diameter and 1 1/4"wide. This is is a very old Vintage/ Antique brass'Chas Farlow& Co' platewind fishing reel in Excellent condition. This is a very scarce 2 1/2" reel. It is clearly stamped on the front plate with the maker's name; C.FARLOW& Co. Makers 191 Strand London' T his particular reel would date back to around to 1890's. These reels by'Farlow' can easily be found in reference books today and was one of the quality manufacturers of their day. The reel is in excellent condition. Has a loud constant check, works perfectly turning very smoothly with no rubbing. It only has some very minor scuff marks on rim(refer photos) The foot is excellent with no filing. This is a very old Vintage/ Antique brass'P.D.MAALLOCH' platewind fishing reel in Excellent condition with a leather case. This is a very scarce 2 1/2" reel with original old silk line on it. It is clearly stamped on the front plate with the maker's name in their Shield Logo; P.D.Malloch Maker Perth' T his particular reel would date back to around 1880's to 1890's. These reels by'Malloch can easily be found in reference books today and was one of the quality manufacturers of their day. Vintage Wood Brass Iron Fishing Reel
This old reel is in as found condition from a shed clearance. I know very little about reels hence all the photographs. It turns ok but is a little tight probably from lack of use. It does not click when turning. Timber part of the reel measures just over 2 1/4 inches in diameter. Bottom part is brass and back part is iron. There is a small crack above both winders and a little chip missing from back of one of them( see photo) I cannot see a makers name on it.
