The revolving plate is nicely sculpted and the knob is of beautifully polished horn. The click is strong, the foot is unaltered and the reel retains a generous amount of its original bronzing. Here is a nice vintage Scottish made fishing reel. It is in good used condition with some usage wear and tarnish(see clear picture to decide before bidding) It is a nice brass and alloy fly reel and is in working order with fairly good wind and constant check. The plating is discoloured and marked but all natural wear. It is stamped with the maker's name Arthur Allen Ltd. Glasgow. It has a diameter of approx 3+ inches. A Late Victorian or Early Edwardian Brass Poachers Fly Fishing Reel 1.25 Inch diameter. Why were they so small? Well if there was a chance of a poacher getting caught he would simply slip his small rod/reel into his pockets and be off before capture. The smaller and more compact his equipment. The easier to conceal of course. This is a brass reel with a wooden handle. Obviously because of it's age there is no ratchet. for sale here is a lovely little platewind style brass trout reel. Surely made for the trade by reuben heatons or slater, tiny 2.25" constant caliper check, full straight unfiled brass foot, cowhorn handle, very nice little reel and winds well with good loud check, no buckles, dents, line burns or damage.very nice example in a smaller size. i have dressed it with an old line too, please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week. for sale here is a stunning and very rare little platewind style brass and ebonite trout reel. Surely made for allcocks by slater, tiny 2.5" very rare to see an ebonite allcocks, this is a particularly nice reel, allcocks stamp on frontplate, german nickel silver rims, typical slater pattern flat backplate with decorative circling, constant caliper check, full straight unfiled brass foot, cowhorn handle, nice little reel and winds well with good check, no buckles line burns or damage at all, ebonite is all good and clean with no chips etc, very nice example of a particularly rarely seen model. i have dressed it with some old line too for display, last foto) very nice little collectors lot this.please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week.

A NICE SCARCE VINTAGE SMALL BRASS FLY FISHING REEL, POSSIBLY ALLCOCK RETAILED
Here is a nice scarce vintage fishing reel. It is in very good used condition. With natural light tarnish(see clear pictures to decide before bidding) It is a nice brass fly reel with intermittent check, full working order and a nice example of a brass reel. Possibly an Allcock retailed reel although not marked and I think it is a bone handle- not 100% certain. Certainly one for the c ollection- Rarely seen for sale. I still have one of the lowest postal structures for the items I sell if you check around. Tight lines.
