So the reel was probably made shortly thereafter. Comes complete with original box that is showing its age.

THESE REELS WERE VERY AGRICULTURAL IN APPEARANCE AND THIS ONE IS NO EXCEPTION WITH WORN PAINT, SLIGHT SCUFF TO ONE END OF THE FOOT, ALSO HANDLE HAS A HAIRLINE CRACK ALONG ITS LENGTH ALTHOUGH STILL SOLID(SEE PHOTO 4) OTHERWISE GOOD WORKING ORDER, NOT SURE IF REXINE REEL BOX IS ORIGINAL TO THE REEL BUT IT KEEPS THE REEL SAFE, ALSO COMES WITH A SPARE SPOOL. Antique Vintage S ALLCOCK& CO Redditch 2 3/8" Brass Centre Pin Fishing Reel MORE PHOTOS BELOW- Click to Enlarge A vintage centrepin fishing reel by S Allcock& Co. Made of brass, and dating to the first half of the 20th century. The reel has a bakelite or vulcanised rubber? handle. An alloy foot, and is impressed to the front of the spool with'S ALLCOCK& CO Ld/ MAKERS/ REDDITCH ENGLAND' in an oval. The reel measures approx 2 3/8" in diameter and is just over 1" deep excluding the handle. Condition: The reel winds well both ways(there is no check) And has a nice patina. There is a small chip from the base of the handle(last photo) and the expected light marks& rubbing to the finish commensurate with age and use.

Felton Crosswind By S.Allcock& Sons Ltd. of Redditch. England. A unique design. Gearing inside the rotating head tilts the spool as it turns to crosswind the line as it's gathered in. It winds nicely. No rough spots but of course it's not silent like a modern reel, you can hear the gears whiring around as you wind it. The bail snaps back well and the optional ticking anti reverse locks every time. The paint finish is generally good. A few small marks and some rubbing on the rotating head. See pictures for details. Vintage Allcock 'Match' Aerial, 4 1/2" Centre Pin Reel. Boxed.
This is a very nice example of the Allcock'Match' Aerial. 4 1/2" Centre Pin Reel. The reel was being used until fairly recently and he was clearly a person who looked after his kit. The reel spins very well and operates smoothly. It has a solid rear flange and a spoked front flange to the spool. Two of the opposing spokes carry the line tensioner and the spool release catch. The backplate carries the makers Trade Disk. It also has the on/off ratchet switch. The reel is finished in a black enamelled style coating. The box tells the story of the reels heritage in that it is produced under the Shakespeare Noris Decals. The box carries the the reels model number which is C340. You can see the split on the hinge of the box which I referred to above. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

for sale here is a lovely little very early crankwind winch brass trout reel. Unmarked but surely made for the trade by allcocks or similar, tiny 2.25" size, good solid british build and much better quality than similar portage pressed thin reels, good loud check, full straight unfiled brass foot, bone handle very nice little reel and winds well with good check, no buckles line burns or damage. very nice example and i have dressed it with an old silk line to make it display better, this is a lovely example in a very small size.please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week.

Here we have for auction a 5 1/2" Allcock Nottingham sea fishing reel. Model 5130A in the 1915 Allcock catalogue. This reel is in an absolutely beautiful condition complete with bulbos ebonite handles set on cupped brass plates, deep recessed centre spool with brass plate& large steel butterfly nut, thick cut brass to the starback, brass flange& backplate, copper brass calliper, steel offset pawl and pawl gear. This quality reel has a very strong optional check that when switched over sounds a nice firm click with a good chime from the brass. With the check off the spool turns nice& smooth on the turn and one good spin will see the spool return many revolutions with absolutely no wobble! vintage fishing reel, Allcock Aerialite bakelite 1930's?
Description This is a very nice bakelite bodied reel with nickel plated brass fittings and a steel handle bar. Made by Allcocks. This is the Aerialite reel, made in England. This is a lovely reel in need of some small attention to bring them back to their best- I believe only the nick to the front of the spool would be hard to fix! It seems to run nicely and the ratchet switches in and out nicely. It does still have line on it although I doubt this is any good! I haven't removed the line to check the inside of the spool. Size: 3 3/4 inch(9.5cm) diameter to the reel itself. 1 1/2 inch thick(3.7cm) and the section for mounting it to the rod is 2 1/2 inches long(6.3cm) I have described this as I see it but am no expert. Please ask any questions you may have and i'll do my best to answer them for you. Made of bakelite for the spool and body, with nickel plated brass fittings and a steel/plastic handle. The bakelite body and spool are in good condition generally, with one small chip on the edge of the spool and a couple of small patches which are slightly rough but may clean off. The nickel plated fittings look intact but have a bit of verdigris forming which should clean up ok. The line guide has worn down to brass. The handle bar is made of steel and has rusted through the chromed finish, this does look poor now but seems only surface deep and would clean up with dismantling and polishing. The small black handles look in good condition and do not turn. The larger handle looks like it is made of marbled bakelite type plastic. The ratchet mechanism does work and is selectable. Overall excellent as can be seen with most paint finish still intact, no damage dents buckles or flaws at all, rarer model in fine collectors condition, comes in original box which is also very fine, comes with spare spool too, all in perfect and original working order. very smooth wind, normally these reels are pretty rough and corroded but this one is a really nice mechanically excellent and clean and tidy example of a rare reel this one. even comes with threadlines on both spools. please see my other listings of hardy and other vintage fishing items this week.

This was recently found during the clearance of an estate in Cheshire together with a lot of other fishing equipment we'll be listing over the next few weeks. Three old fishing reels 1 x The Gnat 1 x Marked Made In Redditch. Worcs, so possibly Allcock? 1 x Marked KS on the base Perfect for any collector. Good condition with some surface marks from use as you'd expect and some stickers with writing on. They all have line on them. UK Freepost including Highlands. Islands and Northern Ireland. Allcock's Mahogany Nottingham star back Ocean Reel in very fine original condition. with central lock screw and fitted with extended bras drag regulator, twin bulbous handles on elliptical seats, which has been moved to make it easier to operate the drag system, Allcock's oval logo stamped to foot, reel circa 1930' s Items are insured. Vintage Allcock Aerial Popular, 3 1/2" Centrepin Spinning Reel.
This is a good usable example of the Allcocks Aerial'Popular' 3 1/2" Diameter Centre Pin Reel. The reel spins well, has twin xylonite handles and a brass foot. The pictures are a good reflection of the reels cosmetic condition with the black finish showing considerable wear. It is also a bit dusty but will clean up well. You are seeing the reel as it came out of the tackle bag. The reel has six spokes and the spool release and tension adjuster are located on two of these. The ratchet selector switch is on the back plate. There is a slight bed to one end of the foot where somebody has rushed to remove it from the rod rings. Vintage 4 in.Bakelite Allcock Aerialite Fishing Reel .Repair to rod mount (9
PLEASE NOTE-all items sold are Antique/Vintage and used-whilst I try and describe condition to the best of my ability all items are used and sold as such. I have about 40 old reels to list over next few days- as you will learn I have no knowledge of Fishing reels so all are sold simply as seen- I will try and list any obvious wear and damage- Reel types ALL UNKNOWN- sorry! I have been advised not to clean any so have resisted the temptation to clean and polish metal and Brass parts- ALL UNTOUCHED Vintage 4 in.Bakelite Allcock Aerialite Fishing Reel. Just under4 in. across.9.4cm. Reel looks in good order but appears to be a repair to metal rod mount bracket at top- it looks like the Bakelite has cracked and the holes on metal mount have been moved over- there is some filing to Bakelite reel edges either side of this mount so original Bakelite ... morepart may have been wider originally! I have noticed looking at all the reels I have on offer that this must be a weak point as many have been repaired by owners. A bit dusty and metal needs a polish. Looks like one screw/ nut on the rod fitting is replacement. May need a wipe over/ polish- Sold as shown.
