The Featherweight was the second smallest of the Lightweight Series Reels that Hardy made. This early original Hardy model has two screws instead on one on the line guide. Which is reversible when switching to right hand wind. The engraving on it reads: BRIT. REGD. DESIGN 895921. There are no dents or issues. The reel seat is solid without any give. The worn appearance is just superficial wear from use on the original gunmetal finish. I am the original owner of this very well made reel. A brown suede and lambskin case is included.

Is in"as found" used condition and has not been restored or repaired by us. The reel measures 2 5/8 inches across and has"The Uniqua Fly Reel. Size 2 5/8, Made By Hardy Bros Ltd, England, Pat. Nos. 24245& 9261, Duplicated Mark II" impressed in to the back plate. The Telephone release latch to the front of the reel is marked with"Reg. 734897" The reel still revolves well with a good smooth action and ther is a little play when the spool is rocked. The release latch work fine and the ebonite handle and smooth brass foot are well attached and sturdy. The handle doesn't ... morerevolve. But I haven't tried to force this as not to cause any damage. The reel still retains some of its' the original finish and the previous owner has scratched their initials in to the drum. One of the pillars has a small line burn grove and it also has the usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use. The rim regulator screw and brass brake indicator work fine, as does the brake lever. The reel revolves well. However, there is some play when the spool is rocked. The drum release buton works fine and smooth alloy foot is well attached and sturdy. The ivorine handles are also well attached. Internally the reel is stamped with the letters"R. W. But it does have the usual scratches and scuffs that you would expect from the years of use its had, all adds to its' character and charm, so evocative of times and anglers past.
