ORVIS Saltwater CFO FLY Fishing REEL Large Size 10 WT Made In Argentina SPEY Here we have a mid-1980s vintage Orvis Saltwater CFO fly reel. This reel series was offered by Orvis in the early to mid 1980s as a saltwater resistant alternative to the freshwater only. Made in England CFO reels. They were made in Argentina, machined from bar stock aluminum, and anodized a satin gold color. Oddly, I don't believe any of these reels were ever stamped with the CFO name, though"Saltwater CFO" was the name used by Orvis in their catalogs and ads. The reels came in 3 different sizes. This example is the biggest model. The Large, which has a 4 inch diameter, a weight of 6.5 oz. and a stated capacity of 200 yds. of 30 lb. dacron backing with a WF10F line. The reel has a spring and pawl drag system, utilizing adjustable tension on the pawls, ... morefrom a coil spring loaded yoke. Either the light spring side(marked L) or heavy spring side(H) pawl can be engaged or both pawls can be engaged to vary the click drag. This limited drag is meant to be augmented with spool rim palming when needed. There was another coil spring drag system used earlier with this series, but it was replaced by this improved one, which is the same type as used with the Orvis Presentation series reels. The reel is in good used condition. All mechanics are good. There is some fine rash on the back side edge of the frame and along the edges of the spool rim. The reel is currently set up for right hand retrieve with the"heavy" pawl engaged. But it can be switched to any other setting. Offered for sale is a REDINGTON Large Arbor FLY REEL-model AL 9/10. The reel was used in Oregon for Steelhead& salmon fishing but I certainly think it would also have several saltwater fishing applications. The reel has some paint wear around the edges-the pictures show the condition. The reel is fully spooled with a Scientific Angler Mastery WF-9-F fly line and backing in good condition- you probably need to replace the leader(I don't know how old it is) The reel is in very clean condition and was well care for. The reel is set up for left handed retrieve. Very smooth reel and the drag system works fine.

Aaron 10-11 Size Fly Fishing Reel Excellent Condition with backing
I'm selling my Aaron 10-11 Fly Reel. I bought this new direct from Aaron. I was working for a fly shop at the time and I was very impressed with their products. I bought several of their reels for myself and some friends. I don't get an opportunity to use this reel so I decided to sell. I don't remember using the reel but there is backing on the spool. I checked the reel and found two very small areas of damage. One on the edge of the spool(see photo) and the other on the edge of the reel body(see photo) The areas are small and the photos may look like there are others because of the glare but I only found these two small spots. The neoprene reel pouch has a small cut(maybe 1/4" long) where the reel must have rubbed through. Now the good. This is a fantastic reel and is in near perfect condition. If I used a marker and covered ... moreover the two areas you would not know anything was wrong at all. The reel works as it should and I did not find any signs of corrosion. The reel is machined from bar-stock aircraft aluminum, with a caliper disc drag system. It has a diameter of about 4 inches, and a weight of about 8.75 oz. Line capacity is listed at 250 yds. of 30 lb. backing with a WF10 line. The cosmetics are excellent. With only a few tiny nicks along the edges. Reel works well, with a smooth, full range drag. It is spooled with some 30 lb. backing, and set up for left hand retrieve. The drag direction can be switched for right hand retrieve by flipping over the clutch plate that sits atop the large gear on the spindle(pull it straight up, to free it from the spring clip holding it on the spindle, flip the clutch over, and carefully align the 3 pins with the ... more3 holes in the gear, before pushing it back over the clip) The reel comes with a Cortland brand zippered pouch in good condition. The case has rod slots and a 2-way zipper to allow its use both on and off the rod. There is a"10" written on the front. Presumably to indicate the line size the previous owner used with the reel. Up for auction is a used Orvis"Salmon" fly reel 9/10 wt line. Rarely seen large capacity early model, 4 + 1/8ths" size, 1.25" wide drum model, single screw drum release with Orvis cap, left or right wind(set up for left hand) counter balanced handle, rear tension, mechanically excellent with very good strong check(out going click) straight unfiled alloy foot, cosmetically(see pictures as they are part of the description) minor scuff marks present but do not effect performance, quite a rare reel. Just back from Orvis cleaned, lubricated& functions like new.
