Orvis. CFO IV, fly reel with two spare spools. This is the 3 ¼” x ¾” heavily ventilated reel that was originally designed by Stan Bogdan for Orvis. This particular one is one of the older reels that were made in England for Orvis. With the adjustable drag switch on the rear plate that works as it should when turned. One can change the direction of the spool drive on this exposed rim reel by flipping the cam on the inside to move the pressure onto the other spring. This IV model can handle a WFF 6 line, and it has a double-sided nickel silver two-screw line guard and an aluminum full-length foot. The spare spools fit perfectly, and there are NO bent spool rims as all three spools spin beautifully. EARLY VTG ORVIS CFO IV Screw Back Fly Reel W/ SPARE SPOOL England Hardy
This is one of the earliest Hardy made CFO IV's with the screw back spindle. It is in excellent working condition and has one of the nicest. Smoothest clicks that I have ever heard on a reel. When I acquired it, the screw for the spindle was loose, which explains some of the scrapes on the inside of the spool, but I have completely gone over the reel and lubricated it with Hot Sauce. It is now in perfect working order and I will guarantee it or your money back. The spare spool had a tiny piece of the inside lip broken off, I filed the sharp corners so that it would not grab the fly line(shown in last pic) Works perfect. Shipping is $6.50 to the lower 48.

There is very little cosmetic wear or tear evident about the reel or spools' rimmed edges and face given its obvious age, with no major chips, gouges, dents, dings, rubs or scrapes noticed. The reel foot still appears straight and tight with no signs of damage or abuse witnessed, and a close inspection of the reel's interior confirms all pieces of the adjustable dual-check click-pawl drag still perfectly intact with no evidence of excessive wear or tear found. A quick test of the reel's drag confirms smooth and increasing tension throughout its entire adjustable range with no stutter, stick, or hesitation experienced, and the spool release-mechanisms and handle knobs were additionally confirmed in perfect working order on both spools as well. Used World Wide Sportsman Gold Cup IV fly reel. This is the Bass Pro Shops brand and is a very nice reel. About $300 for the reel and spare spool. This is a large saltwater type reel. And is good for 10-12 weight line. Has a lot of capacity. This reel is in excellent shape, with a nice and smooth adjustable drag. I have only ever used this reel in freshwater for muskie fishing, so it is nice and clean. The only cosmetic defect is a scratch on the middle of the arbor of the spare spool(see picture) This scratch is about 1/2" in length, and purely cosmetic. I am only selling this reel because I have moved back to my lighter 8 wt rod and no longer need this large of a reel. You won't be disappointed in this reel. See my positive feedback. I'm auctioning an Orvis Mid Arbor IV reel and spare spool. Suitable for line size 7 or 8. Both the reel and spare spool are loaded with approximately 100 yds of 20# dacron backing. The reel has been lightly used and the spare spool has never been fished, though it had a line loaded on it. Both are in excellent condition with the exception of a scratch/nick on the rim of the reel. It's not a dent and it's just cosmetic. The reel is set up for left-hand retrieve but is easily changed to right-hand operation. The original green Orvis pouch for the reel and blue Orvis bag for the spare spool are included, as are the original boxes. The only reason I'm selling is I need to focus on gear for the fishing that I actually do, not the fishing I wish I could do. There's no sense hanging on to gear I can't use. The reel and spools are all in the titanium color. You can find these reels, but the spools in size IV are getting increasingly harder to find. The spools(including the one on the reel) and all spooled with backing and fly lines. The lines include a Scientific Anglers Mastery Bass Bug WF8F, a Cortland 555 Dyna-Tip floating line in size WF8F, a Cortland 444SL Steady Sink type 6(full sinking line) in size WF8S, a Rio Bonefish floating line in size WF8F and a Rio Saltwater Intermediate(mint green w/clear tip) in size WF8I/I. Spring and click pawl fly reel made for Orvis by Hardy Brothers of Alnwick, England- circa 1974. Reel is 3 and 1/4 of an inch in diameter by 1 and 3/16ths of an inch wide(excluding handle and drag knob) and weighs 3.7 ounces. Most suitable for 5-8 weight lines/rods, capacity- WF6F plus 100 yards of 20lb Micron backing. Spool opening is 3/4 of an inch wide. Excellent used condition both mechanically and cosmetically. Slightly used World Wide Sportsman Gold Cup IV fly reel with 200 yards of 30 pd backing and. Scientific Angler 11 weight saltwater floating line. This is a Bass Pro Shops fly reel. This reel has only been used a couple of times and has a small blemish next to the Gold Cup Logo. I have another Gold Cup IV fly reel with intermediate line that I have caught Tarpon. Large Jacks, Barracuda, and sharks on and the drag handled them just fine. The backing and the fly line is worth $50 by itself. I am selling this reel because I do not get to fish nearly as much as I would like and this reel is just sitting in its case.

Up for auction is a slightly used Orvis Clearwater IV reel. I had it on my 8 wt. But it will fit 7,8,9 weights. I used it for about a month so it is in GOOD Condition. There is no rust and very minor paint chipping just from general light wear. It comes with the original line which is also in very good condition. Up for sale is a barely-used Orvis Battenkill BBS IV reel. The only signs of use are some marks on the reel foot from being mounted on a rod. The reel is very light-weight(advertised at 4.5 oz) and will comfortably accommodate 7. 8, and 9 weight lines. For backing to line ratio, I think a 5 DT through a 8 WF line is the sweet spot for this reel.
