Orvis Battenkill Bar Stock II fly ... morereel in the titanium finish. The BBS II is a 2.75 in. diameter, standard arbor reel, weighing in at 3 5/8 oz. It is machined for aircraft grade, bar-stock aluminum, with an offset-gear Rulon disc drag. Orvis puts the recommended line sizes for the reel in the 3 to 5 wt. range. The listed capacity is 100 yds. of 20 lb. dacron with a WF3F line, and 75 yds. with a WF4F. The reel is in very nice shape. There are finish rubs on the reel foot from being on a rod. The frame and spool have no scratches. Except for a"4" the previous owner etched onto the interior side of the spool. The reel has some backing and a WF-4-F fly line, which, from the partial sticker and sunrise color, I believe to be a Scientific Anglers Ultra 4 line. It's an older model line, but still looks decent to me. The reel is set up for left hand retrieve, and is reversible to right hand wind. With the reel comes a zippered Orvis pouch in excellent shape. Design is unlike anything previously or since produced by Hardy sold under their own name. Reel is 3 7/16 inches in diameter by 1 1/16 inches wide. Cast of a newly developed magnesium alloy the reel is extremely light weighing a mere 3.1 ounches- more than 30% lighter than comparible sized Hardy reels using traditional cast aluminum alloys. Most suitable for 5-7 weight rods. Reel is in good mechanical condition and has all its original parts with no loose rivets or screws. Cosmetically I would rate this reel as just fair to good- it has obviously been well used. Unfortunately, the finish Hardy used plagued this series of reels during its entire production. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply inverting the single click pawl and reversing the single screw, double prong chromium line guard. Minimal"drag" may be applied via a plastic knob on the reverse which works on a spring that regulates the pressure on the single click pawl. Terrific clicking sound. Includes extra spool plus original vinyl reel case both in reasonable decent condition- there is no foam insert in the case. Former owner's name and phone number scratched into bottom of reel foot. Images should provide all the information necessary to make a reasonably intelligent bid on this lot. However. The BBS II is a 2.75 in. diameter, standard arbor reel, weighing in at 3 5/8 oz. It is machined for aircraft grade, bar-stock aluminum, with an offset-gear Rulon disc drag. Orvis puts the recommended line sizes for the reel in the 3 to 5 wt. range. The listed capacity is 100 yds. of 20 lb. dacron with a WF3F line, and 75 yds. with a WF4F. The reel is in very nice shape. This classic reel is made in England, and has a traditional spring and pawl drag system. These adjustable drag systems are meant primarily to control spool over run. Additional drag pressure can be applied by palming the spool rim. The reel will hold about 120 yds. of 20 lb. backing with a WF3F line or 95 yds. with a WF4F. Included with the reel is a drawstring pouch. The reel is in pretty good shape. There is a modest amount of enamel wear. As can be seen in the photos. It works perfectly, with a sweet sounding click pawl drag. The reel is set up for left hand retrieve. Here is a used Orvis Battenkill Disc 3/4 fly reel. Made in England, with line, backing, storage case, and two extra spools. The photos will show the nicks and scrapes of normal wear and tear on a fly reel that has gone fishing, so please zoom the photos and be sure to see the exact condition of the reel. Having said that, I hasten to add that the reel is in correct working condition; its blemishes are cosmetic, not damage. Oh, and at some point in the last couple years, I took a Sharpie and labelled the case, 3. The line is a Scientific Anglers Mastery Series GPX WF3F. Orvis BATTENKILL DISC 3/4 FLY Fishing REEL Made In England w/ WF4F Line Up for sale is this used Orvis Battenkill 3/4 Disc fly reel. With zippered case. With its traditional appearance, great value, and proven disc drag system, the Battenkill Disc continues to enjoy great popularity, despite the series being discontinued by Orvis. The 3/4 model will hold about 120 yds. of 20 lb. backing with a WF3F line, 95 yds. with a WF4F, and 70 yds. with a WF5F. This reel was made in England. The reel is in pretty nice condition. It is fully functional. With very good cosmetics. The only flaws I see is some finish wear(pictured) in one area along the edge of the back plate, and a little discoloration on the reel foot. It is spooled with backing and a fire orange WF4F line. The line probably has some age to it, but looks like it has seen minimal, if any, ... moreuse. Current retrieve direction is right hand wind(readily convertible to left hand) The Orvis zippered case is proudly made in the U.S.A. It is ink marked on the outside with a"4" Presumably to indicate line size. Otherwise, the case is in very good condition. ORVIS Pro Guide(Battenkill) MID ARBOR II FLY Fishing REEL. For 3 4 WT Line Rods Up for auction is this used. Orvis Pro Guide Mid Arbor II fly reel. This is the same reel as the Battenkill Mid Arbor II. It was called the Pro Guide in its first year or two of production, before switching to the Battenkill name. The reel is machined from bar-stock aluminum, with a hard anodized finish. It is a mid-arbor design, with a center line, glass composite disc drag system. The reel is a perfect size for use with 3 and 4 weight lines. The reel has seen some use. But remains in good condition. There are no issues with the mechanical condition, it works great.
