Hardy Bros. 4” No. 11/12 Gold Sovereign Fly Reel With Spare Spool And Lines
Up for auction is this older Hardy Bros Limited Edition 4” Gold Sovereign No. 11/12 fly reel numbered 399/500 with a spare spool in their original Hardy padded cases with an instruction leaflet. These reels were produced from 1990 to 1997 and at that time was Hardy’s“high end” fly reel. Written on the back of the reel is“The Sovereign 11/12” and“By appointment to H.R.H. the Prince of Wales manufacturers of fishing tackle House of Hardy Alnwick. England” These reels can be switched from RHW to LHW. It has a single ebonite handle, a counter weight, a short ribbed foot and a quick release drum latch. The drag control knob and“clicker” button are located on the back of the reel. These reels have a very smooth and strong drag system. This reel and spare spool are in mint condition throughout and will give you years of fishing enjoyment. Hardy Sovereign 5/6/7 fly reel serial numbered 1st year 1990
I bought this Hardy Sovereign 5/6/7 fly reel new in the Spring of 1990 when it was first released. And it is one of the original 1000 serial numbered reels. It has been a great companion on many trout adventures over the past 24 years, and has been lovingly cared for, as the pictures show. It is now lined with an Orvis WF6F line and probably 100 yards of 25 lb. backing. The spool spins freely with no rubbing. The drag is as strong and smooth as it was when new, and is easily switched from left to right hand by the flip of a very clever switch inside. The original Hardy instruction sheet is included. The original black leather case is still in fine condition, with a few small scrapes in the leather that a bit of black shoe polish should hide. The last picture shows a few small scrapes on the drag knob when you blow up the picture. These scrapes ... moredidn't show on the first picture. The reel foot shows signs of rod mounting, but no damage. Please ask all questions before bidding, as sale is final. Auction buyer pays actual shipping and insurance is required, not an option. HARDY SOVEREIGN 2000 FLY REEL#7 WEIGHT in excellent. Lightly used condition. It has a quick disconnect spool, a fully adjustable AVCARB DRAG, the retrieve is reversable by the flip of a lever and it has a poachers switch to silence the click. Although designed to be saltwater tough I have only fished this reel in fresh water. A seven weight reel that is only 3 1/2" in dia. and 1 1/2" wide. This is a limited edition reel, serial number 564. The only condition issue is that the two replaceable rubber o-rings that help your fingers grip the drag knob have cracked with age. Otherwise this reel is in excellent shape. Comes with a ROYAL WULFF TRIANGLE TAPER fly line. This reel was nearly $500 new and the line was $69.
