The reel is in excellent condition, and appears to have been used ... morevery little. Check the pictures for details on condition. The reel is 3 3/4 inches in diameter. Reel and spools were made in England in the early 1980s. At the time, they were a reasonable salmon and light saltwater reel, with a caliper drag system. Both the reel and spare spool are set up with about 170 yards of 30 pound test dacron with spliced loop ends(but no fly lines) The spare spool(see the last 3 pictures) appears to have had its rim, right at the handle, bent in slightly, and repaired leaving some plier marks on the rim. This is noticeable on close inspection and you can see these in the last 2 pictures. These England-made Scientific Anglers reels were very nice reels and will still catch fish. I have too many fly reels that I don't use, so I am thinning the herd. I will be listing some other fly reels this week, so take a look at my other auctions. I accept only Paypal. EARLY VTG ORVIS CFO IV Screw Back Fly Reel W/ SPARE SPOOL England Hardy
This is one of the earliest Hardy made CFO IV's with the screw back spindle. It is in excellent working condition and has one of the nicest. Smoothest clicks that I have ever heard on a reel. When I acquired it, the screw for the spindle was loose, which explains some of the scrapes on the inside of the spool, but I have completely gone over the reel and lubricated it with Hot Sauce. It is now in perfect working order and I will guarantee it or your money back. The spare spool had a tiny piece of the inside lip broken off, I filed the sharp corners so that it would not grab the fly line(shown in last pic) Works perfect. Shipping is $6.50 to the lower 48.

The vintage English-made Orvis C.F.O. IV Fly Reel& Spare Spool being auctioned here are in excellent used condition. As the pictures show. There is very little cosmetic wear or tear evident about the reel or spools' rimmed edges and face given its obvious age, with no major chips, gouges, dents, dings, rubs or scrapes noticed. The reel foot still appears straight and tight with no signs of damage or abuse witnessed, and a close inspection of the reel's interior confirms all pieces of the adjustable dual-check click-pawl drag still perfectly intact with no evidence of excessive wear or tear found. Orvis CFO II Disc Fly Reel + Spool Made in England This Orvis fly reel has been used but is in great condition. There are a few small signs of use throughout the reel. Primarily small/light scratches around the edges that are purely aesthetic. The original clicker was removed by the original owner- the disc drag still functions the same, just without the sound. Both are spooled up with 20lb backing- one with orange and the other white. Currently set up to reel with the left hand but can be changed upon request. Scientific Anglers System Two 2 89 8/9 Fly Reel with Spare Spool, England Made
This is a vintage Scientific Anglers System Two model 89 fly reel. With spare spool. The reel is in excellent condition, and appears to have been used very little. Check the pictures for details on condition. The reel is 3 3/4 inches in diameter. Reel and spools were made in England in the early 1980s. At the time, they were a reasonable salmon and light saltwater reel, with a caliper drag system. Both the reel and spare spool are set up with about 170 yards of 30 pound test dacron with spliced loop ends(but no fly lines) The spare spool(see the last 3 pictures) appears to have had its rim, right at the handle, bent in slightly, and repaired leaving some plier marks on the rim. This is noticeable on close inspection and you can see these in the last 2 pictures. These England-made Scientific Anglers reels were very nice reels and will still ... morecatch fish. You are viewing my super 3"dia ORVIS CFO III Fly Reel that is suited for lines#4 to#6. This reel was Made in England by HARDY BROS of Alnwick(although bearing the ORVIS name) Although this reel has been used. It remains in superb mechanical condition. There is some honest paint wear that is visible in the photographs to the backplate. I am supplying with the reel a spare spool and the original ORVIS suede/sheepskin reel pouch. The perforated drum helps reduce the weight of this reel considerably. So much so that(with the backing line) it weighs just 128grms! There are fly lines(with backing) supplied on both spools however I am unable to say what size. Make or condition they are.
