Vintage Hardy Bros. LTD The Perfect Fly Reel 3-3/8", with Extra Spool
This is an original made in England 3-3/8" Hardy Perfect Fly Reel. It was purchased new in the 1970-1980's and was used for a short time. It was then carefully stored in it's orginal padded Hardy case. And the extra spool stored in a protective bag. The reel appears in almost new condition, except for light rub marks visible next to the winding handle, and small scratches on the top surface of the polished aluminum reel foot, where it was attached to the fly rod's reel seat- please see photographs. The overall finish of the reel is in excellent conditon. The Agate Line Guard enclosed in the silver ring is smooth and polished with no defects. Chips or scratches. Mechanically the reel is in perfect operational condition. With no noticeable wear to any moving parts. There is no play or wobble in the spindle or spool. The Extra ... moreSpool is in almost perfect condition. The original padded zippered Hardy case is also in excellent condition with no damage. The Hardy Perfect Fly Reel remains one of the few fly reels to utilize ball bearings for spool rotation. Which accounts for its ultra smooth and steady winding action. The traditonal click pawls give this classic quality English reel it's unmistakable Hardy sound when a fish runs. The drag is fully adjustable by way of the knurled brass knob. The reel will accomodate up to a#7 line with approx 200 ft of 15 lb. dacron backing. With a#6 or#5 line it will hold 100 + yards of dacron backing. If you've always wanted a classic Hardy Perfect. In this auction you are bidding on a VINTAGE lightly-used: Hardy Bros Ltd"The Flyweight" Fly Reel(2-1/2" diameter. For 2/3/4wt lines& rods) with Original Padded Reel Case. Box and Papers included Held quietly in storage for a number ... moreof years by its previous owner and fished only a few brief times in its long history. The vintage English-made 2.50" Hardy Brothers Flyweight Fly Reel being auctioned here is in wonderful lightly-used condition. As the pictures show. There are only a few very faint cosmetic wear and tear marks witnessed about reel's rimmed edges and face, with no excessive-signs of harsh-usage or traumatic-abuse found. Though not as shiny as it perhaps was new. The aluminum alloy reel-foot still appears straight and bright, and the removable/reversible stainless-steel line guard shows no signs of cracks, grooving, or looseness. A quick inspection of the reel's interior confirms all pieces of the traditional dual check-and-pawl drag still perfectly intact and fully functional. With no damage or excessive wear of any kind noticed. Both the spool's handle knob and two-screw release-latch mechanism were also confirmed in perfect working order as well. Presently set for Right-Hand-Wind(but easily changeable to left) This wonderful little fly reel comes complete with its original-issue padded zippered reel case, box, and pamphlet also included. Appropriately sized to hold most 2.

It also includes the original case and instruction pamphlet. Mechanically the reel is in good shape and turns very smoothly. Cosmetically there are worn/dings sections on the edges of the frame and the inscription side of the reel as shown in pictures. There is a small ding on the Ltd of the Hardy Brothers. Ltd inscription as shown. There does not appear to be any dings on the drag adjustment edge. The inside looks very clean. The case is worn as shown. The leather hinge has a small tear in it. The Hardy Bros. Alnwich Ltd inscription on top of case is quite worn. But most of the inscription is readable. Zipper works easily. Fresh attic find! What you see is what you get. This Hardy Bros Featherweight reel is in used condition.It has no model or serial numbers. Everything works as it should.Comes spooled with 5wt line and carrying case.Only problem with reel is a some rock rash on the reel frame(pictured) I believe it is a 1960's early 70's reel as most of the stuff found in attic was from this era. I am also not 100% sure the case is original as I do not know much about fly reels. I will do my best to answer any questions about this reel. What you see is what you get. Offered for sale is a Vintage Hardy Bros. Ltd. HYDRA" 3 3/4" Fly Reel, set for Left Hand Wind, with an ebonite crank handle, smooth brass foot, and a two screw latch with a very shinny finish, the maker's name and reel style is engraved on the back plate. This is a very old model, probably made in the late 1950s to early 1960s. Manufacturing records of Hardy Bros. Ltd. suggest that this model was made from 1958-1967. The reel is in fine working condition and could use a bath, and oiling and a good home to either display in one's collection, or to use fly fishing to everyone's envy. The reel would be very appropriate for fishing for Sea Trout, Grilse, Salmon, Steelhead, Artic Char and Lake Trout. The reel was custom crafted in England by Hardy Bros Ltd. The instruction booklet and parts list is included.

Hardy Bros Ltd. Marquis Salmon No. 1 Saltwater Fly - Vintage - Made in England
Vintage fly reel made by Hardy. Written on the back of the reel is"Marquis Salmon No.1" Saltwater" and"Made by Hardy Bros Ltd. England" This reel does show signs of use. But is in good usable condition overall. Specifically the rod mount and the outer rim of the spool show signs of corrosion. There is some scratches along the edge of the back of the reel. The word"Made" also has a couple marks/nicks on the M and the A, but otherwise the writing is clear. On the inside, there is some more light corrosion(on the mechansim that tensions the clicker springs) and some grease marks on the inside of the spool. There is also some scratches on the bars that span over the line. None of these issues affect the function of the reel. The clicker is strong and the mechanism that moves it works well.
