There is very little cosmetic wear or tear evident about the reel or spools' rimmed edges or face given their obvious age, with no major chips, gouges, dents, dings, rubs or scrapes noticed. The reel foot still appears straight and tight with no signs of damage or abuse witnessed, and a close inspection of the reel's interior confirms all components of the adjustable disc-drag still perfectly intact with no evidence of excessive wear or tear found. This is a good working example of the Hardy Marquis No 2. Salmon Fly Reel. The reel comes with a spare spool and a makers reel pouch. The reel appears to have only recently come off a rod and there is minor surface corrosion on the underside of the reel seat. The beauty of this reel is its age. Yes it is one of the earlier Hardy Salmon Marquis Reel but that is to its advantage in that it is equipped with the metal ratchet spring and pawls. These were later replaced with'Plastic' parts. But in Good Condition This Ross Gunnison G-2 fly reel and spare spool were used as a demo reel at our fly shop. The reel/spool was only used on rods that customers would cast in our parking lot to test out new fly rods. The reel and spool have had a bit of use. But are in good condition overall and still have a lot of miles left on them as they are simply a bulletproof design. This is a pre-98 frame and spool. They were manufactured by Ross between 1995 and 1998. The reel has a brown Drag Disk and teardrop Clicker as well as no screws on the bottom of the spool. The Frame and Spool are bright black and have six large holes in the main reel face- see pictures(whereas the post-98 had multiple holes) The last four pictures are of the ... morespare spool. There are some minor scratches to be found on both the reel and spool(see pictures) particularly around the edges. They are both. However, structurally and functionally sound. This is a vintage Scientific Anglers System Two model 89 fly reel. With spare spool. The reel is in excellent condition, and appears to have been used very little. Check the pictures for details on condition. The reel is 3 3/4 inches in diameter. Reel and spools were made in England in the early 1980s. At the time, they were a reasonable salmon and light saltwater reel, with a caliper drag system. Both the reel and spare spool are set up with about 170 yards of 30 pound test dacron with spliced loop ends(but no fly lines) The spare spool(see the last 3 pictures) appears to have had its rim, right at the handle, bent in slightly, and repaired leaving some plier marks on the rim. Penn 2.5 Fly Fishing Reel Spare Spool Box Manual Pouch Used Excellent Condition
Hi. I purchased the with full intentions of using it but just never did. Penn made three different sizes of these, this being the middle size, the reel is about 3 1/4" diameter and 1" wide. Please zoom in on ALL the pictures to see the specs on the owners manual and box. I'm calling this used only because I don't want you to be disappointed in it's condition. It has never had line on it or been fished, it's only been removed from the box on a rare occasion, and admired by me, I see no scratches or marks of any kind on it. The spare spool box had some writing on it that doesn't have anything to do with the spool, I wonder if it was a store employee's notes for something? This reel was made when materials like aluminum, brass and stainless steel were less costly than they are now and Penn didn't cut any ... morecorners when they produced these reels, even the pouch has real embroidering on it!
