I'm selling this British made Hardy Marquis 8/9 fly reel with line and case.Everything is in excellent almost unused condition.Just the smallest scuff on case and some light tarnish on the reel's edges which would probably buff off.No marks on reel's back.An estate find.I've never used this reel and I can't tell you what weight or line type that's on the spool.The line is in pristine condition and certainly weight matched to the reel.Undoubtably high end floating line.Still has the leader on it.Couldn't have been used for more than one salmon fishing trip from the looks of it. Original Hardy Marquis Salmon 3 + 2 Spare Spools
Original Quality Hardy Marquis Salmon 3. This is THE big one. This is an early model with the ribbed foot and was made when Hardy tackle making was at its finest. Simple in design and built like the proverbial tank there is almost nothing to go wrong with the mechanism of the reel. With a Double ratchet this reel is spotless inside but the outer reel casing has scratching to the enameled finish. As usual the spool edges show spotting to the chrome finish. This is a reel designed for work in harsh environments. Comes with two spare spools and 3 Hardy badged zipper cases with 3 lines. Sink tip Scientific Anglers. Deep sink tip Teeny and a DT11 Seirntific Anglers floater. I have owned 3 of these reels and this is the last from my tackle bag. A real Salmon or big steelhead reel with capacity to take loads of backing

Hardy Marquis Salmon 1 Fly Reel & 2 Extra Spools
This reel was the workhorse of my Steelhead arsenal. Landing many big fish and lots of trout. I used this reel on a 10' 8 weight Sage rod and an 11' 8-9 weight Cabelas rod I made several years ago. This reel performed perfectly, and nothing can beat the whine of the reel when a big fish takes off. Normal honest wear is evident on this reel frame, as it tamed many a fish and traveled down many rivers. It has always been cleaned and oiled after each trip. It comes with two extra spools. All spools are loaded with ample backing for Steelhead. One spool carries a Teeny Nymph line, one a 30' TS650 fast sink tip, and the third a Teeny line with a 16' 306 grain sink tip. I'm including two black leather bags for the spools and the original Hardy vinyl case. You will not find a nicer set.

This is a good working example of the Hardy Marquis No 2. Salmon Fly Reel. The reel comes with a spare spool and a makers reel pouch. The reel appears to have only recently come off a rod and there is minor surface corrosion on the underside of the reel seat. The beauty of this reel is its age. Yes it is one of the earlier Hardy Salmon Marquis Reel but that is to its advantage in that it is equipped with the metal ratchet spring and pawls. These were later replaced with'Plastic' parts. I have never used it.has just sat in a drawer ever since. I tried to depict condition of reel in photos. It is in good condition for its age and is very clean inside. It is a large salmon reel, about 4" in diameter and 1 3/4 inches deep. It is definitely used and old but is a fine piece of Hardy Brothers history. Will ship Priority Mail within USA. Hardy Bros Ltd. Marquis Salmon No. 1 Saltwater Fly - Vintage - Made in England
Vintage fly reel made by Hardy. Written on the back of the reel is"Marquis Salmon No.1" Saltwater" and"Made by Hardy Bros Ltd. England" This reel does show signs of use. But is in good usable condition overall. Specifically the rod mount and the outer rim of the spool show signs of corrosion. There is some scratches along the edge of the back of the reel. The word"Made" also has a couple marks/nicks on the M and the A, but otherwise the writing is clear. On the inside, there is some more light corrosion(on the mechansim that tensions the clicker springs) and some grease marks on the inside of the spool. There is also some scratches on the bars that span over the line. None of these issues affect the function of the reel. The clicker is strong and the mechanism that moves it works well. Please review the ... morepictures closely as I have done my best to show and describe the reel. If you need any more specific pictures. Please let me know.
