Antique vintage Ocean City # 78 fly fishing reel with line made in USA good cond
This is a Vintage Ocean City fly fishing reel. Model is# 78. These were made in the USA in Philidelphia. The reel in in decent shape, the back was green and lot of that is worn off from age and as can be seen, also there is wear due to age elsewhere. The reel seems to operate perfectly,he drag works as it should and there did not appear to be a clicker mechanism on this style reel although I know nothing about them. Point is I see nothing missing and all works as it should far as I can tell. The reel was well cared for but has not been used for a long time and could use a cleaning. I am not sure what size the line is but it looks to be in good shape also.

Well-cared for by its previous owner seemingly ... moreseldom fished. The vintage English-made Sci-Anglers/3M System 2 Model 7/8 Fly Reel& Spare Spool being auctioned here are in excellent lightly-used condition. As the pictures show. There is very little cosmetic wear or tear evident about the reel or spools' rimmed edges or face given their obvious age, with no major chips, gouges, dents, dings, rubs or scrapes noticed. The reel foot still appears straight and tight with no signs of damage or abuse witnessed, and a close inspection of the reel's interior confirms all components of the adjustable disc-drag still perfectly intact with no evidence of excessive wear or tear found. A quick test of the reel's drag confirms smooth and increasing tension throughout its entire adjustable range with no stutter, stick, or hesitation experienced, and the spool release-mechanisms and handle knobs were confirmed in perfect working order on both spools as well. Orvis DXR 7/8 Extra SPOOL For ROSS Made 78 FLY Reel USED Black SPARE
Up for sale is this extra spool for an Orvis DXR 7/8 fly reel. This spool will only fit the DXR 7/8 version purportedly made by Ross Reels. And will not function properly with the Lamson made DXR 7/8. So please be sure you have the correct reel before bidding. The easiest way to tell the two spools apart is by the spool latch release and cover. It should appear as the one shown in my second photo, with a swing type switch, not the push in variety. This spool looks to have seen a lot of action. There are numerous scratches and nicks along the rims. On the counterbalance the rubber o-ring. Tippet lock is badly cracked(it is easily replaced, but who uses these tippet locks anyway? I have a matte charcoal, Ross made DXR 7/8 to test the spool on, and it fit well and turns true. The sale spool has a satin black finish.
