For sale is my personal S.E. Bogdan 00 single action Salmon reel. Right hand wind. Here are the details(all told to me directly from Stan Bogdan) on this historically significant reel: Made by Stan in 1962. The reel was made for Stan’s best friend, B.E. Ted” Bensinger. Ted was the former owner of AMF. Mercury Marine, as well as Brunswick Billiards, and was the person who had the idea of merging Atlantic Salmon and Int. Salmon groups into the ASF. According to Stan. Ted Bensinger was the first person who ever took me Salmon fishing in Canada” and was a person significantly impacting the production of Bogdan reels from the start. Stan told me“Ted believed in me when I didn’t even believe in myself” The reel is a Right hand wind. Single action salmon reel, and was made with a very rare, roller guide” on the back side of the reel, so Bensinger ... morecould fish it“rings up– Canadian style” as well. There is mention of Bensinger fishing his Bogdan like this in the book Bogdan. By Graydon Hilyard. I always have fished it the normal way. Reel down, winding with the right hand. The reel has been fished and shows scratches along the bottom of the Champagne frame from years of fishing. But nothing major at all. Face plate is drilled/ventilated. And has“B.E. Bensinger” engraved along the bottom. Otherwise excellent shape, and 100% mechanically. I have owned this reel for approximately 25 years. And had an incredible opportunity to fish this reel with Stan in 2007 on the Upsalquich River in New Brunswick. During the time I was there. Stan gave me all the details listed above on this reel, and also completely disassembled and inspected the reel while I watched. He went into detail about Ted Bensinger. And became very emotional when describing their friendship. This was actually the last time I ever fished this reel.
