Bill Ballan Heritage Classic Fly Reel LHW, Made in New York
This is a made in New York Bill Ballan Heritage Classic fly reel in LHW. The reel possesses an adjustable click and pawl drag. Serpentine handle, and perforated front plate. The frame is highly polished which accounts for the flares on the photographs. This reel will take a 5 to 7 wt fly line with substantial backing. As is traditional with Mr. Ballan's New York made reels, the action is as smooth as butter. This reel is a joy to use and perfectly accompanies more traditional fly rods. Sorry to see it go, but I haven't used it in some time. It needs to be put back into use as it is too beautiful of a reel to sit in the desk drawer. Bill Ballan narrow spool fly reel near mint
Nearly new Bill Ballan trout reel. It measures 3 1/4 inches diameter by 1 1/4 width. The spool is quite narrow and I'd say a WF or DT 4wt would be best. The click is pleasantly quiet on gain and louder on feed. It would balance nicely on a bamboo or glass rod. But will certainly be fine on a graphite rod as well. I did the best I could to photograph the scratches but they are truly small. Get the Peerless look in your photos without taking out a second mortgage! I am a PT ebayer with two FT jobs. Reel weighs only 4.4 ounces. It is spooled with Cortland high vis WF 5 sylk fly line. Which costs $59.00 alone. Reel can be set to left or right hand wind as desired. Also included is the custom solid mahogany reel box fitted exactly for the reel. This reel is in excellent condition and was only used several times since I purchased it a few years ago.
