I'm selling this British made Hardy Marquis 8/9 fly reel with line and case.Everything is in excellent almost unused condition.Just the smallest scuff on case and some light tarnish on the reel's edges which would probably buff off.No marks on reel's back.An estate find.I've never used this reel and I can't tell you what weight or line type that's on the spool.The line is in pristine condition and certainly weight matched to the reel.Undoubtably high end floating line.Still has the leader on it.Couldn't have been used for more than one salmon fishing trip from the looks of it. Most excellent condition here are 2 Hardy brothers of Alnwick. Salmon/ sea trout reels. One Marquis#7 and One marquis# 8/9 both in superb condition containing line though I am not sure of the condition of the line. along with 30 flys of varying sorts some hand made some production, single and tri barbed in various colours. Both reels are in their original padded cases. Although Hardys are re-Introducing a new Marquis range these are the original and tested vintage reels. A must for the dedicated Fly fisher. Hardy Brothers England Marquis#8/9 Reel w DRAG Plus 2 Spools. Dusty but works fine. And has some oil residue so was taken care of. Nice set. Marquis measures 3.5 across, just over an inch thick. Back of 2 spools have stickers that state Wet Tip IV WF-9-F/S and WF-9-F. Plus 2 Cabela's Wraps. Not sure how old line is. Vintage Estate sale of retired physician. In good working condition, some paint loss on edge of cage and a few scratches as one would expect for a used fly reel. This will be sent Special D within the UK. With a silver grey finish and polished rim. It is 3 5/8 inches in diameter, with an inner width of about 3/4 inch. The spool will also fit the Hardy made Scientific Anglers System 8 reel. Naturally, it will not fit any Marquis Disc, Silent Check, or Multiplier reel. The spool looks like it has received moderate use. And remains in good shape. There are minor marks along the palming rim, but nothing that would affect function. All is straight, and the gear teeth are good. Release latch works fine. The spool is clean and empty of any line. Application of lubricant is recommended before use.
