H ardy Bros. Featherweight Fly Reel with Suede Case- An original vintage aluminum alloy Lightweight Series reel made by Hardy Bros. In Ainwick, England in the 1960's, and not a contemporary reproduction manufactured in Asia. It measures 2-7/8" diameter, 1" wide and weighs 3 oz. with a usable 50 yards of backing on reel. Left hand wind reversible to right hand wind easily. Adjustable drag with the famous Hardy click. In perfect working condition. A genuine usable collectible. The Featherweight was the second smallest of the Lightweight Series Reels that Hardy made. This early original Hardy model has two screws instead on one on the line guide. This is an old Hardy Featherweight fly reel with 2-screw line guard. The check is also an old MKII style. Similar to old St. George and Perfect reels- very rare for lightweight series. The reel is mechanically sound with no spool wobble or rubbing on the frame. The surface leading is scratched off, especially around the rims, from honest use- adds patina to this old reel. It is set up as LHW and this is how I have been using for years- works perfectly(I can switch it to RHW before shipping if you like) It has the Hardy sound and when a good fish takes your line, it just gives you a smile. Hardy Featherweight Fly Reel. Hardy Bros. Ltd. Alnwick, England. 2-7/8 inches diameter. Earlier model with 2-screw Nickel Silver line guard. Condition is excellent. There are a couple faint highlights on the high edges of the frame. But no abuse, no dings or scuffs. Spool is as new, no corrosion, no damage, no line residue. Minor surface rubs on the foot disclose mounting on a rod, this reel has seen very little use. No significant faults and no excuses. This reel will comfortably hold 3 to 5-weight lines.
