The Zero is a well made reel of machined aluminum, with a disc drag system. It has a cage and pillar, full frame design, with brown anodizing. I would personally classify the reel as a 4/5 line wt. model. The reel is right hand retrieve (i.e. turn the handle with your right hand), and I don't believe it is convertible. The reel is in excellent condition. I don't believe it ever got used, but there are minor handling marks present. The reel will come with a nice suede clamshell case.

They produced many of their own fishing tackle items, notably cane rods, but also fine reels with equivalent aesthetics and fishing ability to that of Hardy Bros. and its predecessors, such as David Slater and PD Malloch. Prior to the death of Charles Fitzroy Farlow and his son in 1944, Farlow's produced the vast majority of their catalogued leaded aluminum reels at their Croydon facility. If you come across any leaded aluminum Farlow reels made prior to ~1940(Farlow's maker stamp. Holdfast logo in addition to a serial number on the reel foot) that are for sale. Please contact me- thanks! This is an extremely good looking vintage English made fly reel. Stamped C Farlow& Co Ltd. size 3 inches. And the Holdfast trademark, see photos. The reel foot is solid brass 2 1/2 inches long(7cm) and is attached to the reel with slotted screws the width of the reel foot is 9/16(14cm) There is no serial number on the foot. The frame of this reel I have been told is leaded aluminum. The spool is perforated, handle of this reel is black. The finish is in great, looks like new shape, it is in the original box. Ross CLA 3 Fly Reel for 5wt, 6wt and 7wt fly lines. Made in USA
Great. Well-proven, American-made fully machined, fully anodized fly reel by Ross for sale by original owner. Virtually maintenance free, and suitable for freshwater, warm water and saltwater environments. Ross rates the reel for 5-7wt WF lines, with 175 yards of backing with a WF6 line. I think that overstates the backing, though Ross may well use finer 20lb backing than do I. I have had little use of the reel: I had it rigged with a 6wt line, and cannot remember actually fishing my 6wt rod since I got this reel, though I must have. It does have some very slight edge wear that is difficult to see with the naked eye, but which can be, and has been, magnified in the fourth and fifth photos via a macro lens. Anything else you see is either lint, glare or reflections: the reel is pretty close to perfect cosmetically, and is essentially new, ... moremechanically.
