Reel dimensions: weight- 7.5 ounces, 3 7/8 inches in diameter x 1 5/16 inches wide. Most suitable for 8-10 weight lines/rods: capacity- WF10F plus 500 feet of 20lb Micron ... morebacking. Great reel for a light Switch or Spey rod as long you stay out of the salt! Althogether we have a nice c1910-20 antique Palakona cane two piece fly rod by Hardy Bros. Ltd. THE PALAKONA. It came with this hard to find antique 3-1/4" Sunbeam reel(THE SUNBEAM) made by Hardy Bros. Ltd. Alnwick, England. This is a MK II reel. Original patent date of 1888 duplicated. Making the reels manufacture date approx. 1898-1908. In our other auctions. There's also a 3" S. Allcock Ltd. reel called"the MARVEL" that dates to the same time frame as this Sunbeam reel. There are also a couple of old tins packed with various old flies as well as a newer high quality fish gaf. A nice Sheffield hunting/ fishing knife and then lastly a German made Solingen fishing tool with sheath. These were all owned by a Bitish military officer that took his fly fishing seriously and like all serious anglers. He took care of his tools. Classic Hardy Sunbeam 8/9 reel and spare
This Hardy reel was made in England. It was my uncles and he used it for Steelhead and Salmon. It is in excellent condition. The agate guide has broken and comes with this reel along with the holding spring. If someone wants to try Gorilla glue. A metal guide has been provided and works fine with no sharp edge to fray your line. There are also some rubber grommets for the other guide hole. My uncle was very particular with taking care of his equipment. The original case and a spare reel is also provided. Returns will be accepted with the buyer paying the shipping. Shipping will be two day priority mail for $12.00.

Other than some light frame edge wear and a few surface scuffs on the back, this reel looks like it just came out of the sales box! Mechanically like new. Agate line guide is perfect- no chips or cracks. Weight- 4.8 ounces, 3 7/16 inches in diameter x 1 inch wide(excluding handle and drag knob) Most suitable for 5-8 weight lines/rods. Uniquely designed ... moreline guard that can easily be repositioned(wire retaining spring) for either right or left hand retrieve and even includes a Hardy logo"plug" to fill in the unused line guard hole. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply reversing the position of the line guard and hole plug and the click pawls. Reel is currently set up for left-hand retrieve. Large drag knob on reverse that regulates spring pressure on the click pawls. Very positive clicker sound sure to let everyone else on the lake or river know that you're into a good fish with a classic Hardy reel- what could be better? Includes a very nice cloth and cordura nylon covered, padded and zippered generic(not Hardy) reel pouch- not shown. Lovely HARDY'The Sunbeam' 7/8 Fly Reel + Snowbee Case + Cortland 444 Rocket WF7I Line This quality reel is in nice condition being tight and smooth with just the odd sign of usage. It measures 3 5/8ins in diameter with a spool width of 3/4in. and will hold up to an 8wt.line. Line tension is adjusted via a knob on centre of the backplate and the reel can be used either left or right hand wind. It also has a good'palming' rim. Simply a great choice if you are trout or seatrout fishing. The reel comes in a good. Zipped Snowbee case(vastly superior to Hardy's plastic ones) and is loaded with a good Cortland 444 WF7I line. It is ready to fish with braided loop.

Vintage Hardy Sunbeam 5/6 reel with extra spool, with boxes and case
Nice. Used Sunbeam 5/6 vintage fly fishing reel with spare spool in original packaging. Manufactured by Hardy Bros. Ltd. in Alnwick, England approximately 1975- 1983. All in good shape, seems to have been used very little. The box for the main reel has a couple small tears on the corner of the flap and also a spot where some tape apparently removed a spot of the printed area(see photos) The black zippered case that holds the reel has a small tear near the beginning of the zipper, but it does not affect the operation of the case. I purchased this reel from a elderly women who said her husband loved this reel. The reel was looks like it was not used much and is in really nice condition. She said her husband had the reel ever since she could remember and always had it in his den. He was from England and moved to the US many years ago. The case is in perfect condition and looks like new. The original owners manual is also in very good condition with no stains. I will ship to the continental US. But if buyer is overseas, buyer agrees to pay additional shipping charges. I spend a lot of time fly fishing and I can say this is a beautiful reel that for me is too nice to use.
