Up for auction is an Orvis Battenkill Multiplier 8/9 standard arbor fly reel made in England. The spool maybe easily and quickly removed to change right/left hand retrieve. The reel is made for 8 or 9 wt. line. It is a multiplier reel. Meaning that for each turn of the reel handle the reel turns more than once. There seem to be a couple of minor, hard for me to see scratches on the reel and it seems function perfectly. It is a heavy duty reel that only weighs 5 ozs. I have lubed it and comes with a full reel of backing,fly line and tippet. We have a smoke-free home. It has no case, but does have the original box and instructions. For sale is a Redington Crosswater Disc Drag Reel. This is listed as"used" But is a replacement for another reel I had that Redington replaced, new, with this one. This reel has not been used. The spare spool has not been used except to put on the reel. The lines on the spools on both 8 wt, one freshwater floating, the other saltwater intermediate sink. Comes with the original box and pouch for the reel, blank warranty card. Reel is set for left hand retrieve but can be reversed and the instructions come with it. At 7.2oz(204g) this is a weighty reel, however, on the butt of a 10ft rod this feels fine and that large diameter arbor stores line in large coils, lets me pick up line fast and makes the drag that bit smoother. Hardy has opted to link the spool to the frame with a captive nut, nothing wiggles or moves which shouldn't wiggle or move. Remove the spool to reveal the cassette. This has the most user friendly means of getting spools in and out that I have met to date– slide the lock catch to unlock and the spool comes out, slide the catch to lock and your spool is locked. More complicated to make than the typical O-ring mechanism but so much nicer to use! Switching drag direction is similarly simple, unscrew that brass nut at the centre of the spool and turn the bearing– no tools, or screws– easy! Ultra large arbor and extreme light weight are major features of this handsome reel. Only 4 ¾ ounces with a 3 ¾ inch diameter give this reel capability for use with 4. 5 and 6 weight lines. Any indication of use is imperceptible but this reel has been used, if only lightly. Set up for LH wind, it is easily changed to RH by user.
