OLDER ORVIS CFO IV Fly Reel *Near Mint* Made In England by Hardy
Other than evidence that this CFO IV has been mounted on a reel seat. You would be hard pressed to find any other imperfections. This is one clean reel and comes loaded with an unknown floating line. These timeless English made reels go great with bamboo or modern rods and have the sweetest clicking sound of any reel and are good for a 4,5 or 6 wt line. Shipping is free to the lower 48.

I am selling my Orvis Superfine Touch rod and Orvis CFO 1 reel. The rod has been used no more than three times and is in like new condition. It is the full flex and comes with the Orvis tube and sock as seen in the picture. The sock has a tag for your name and information and it is not written on. All stickers are intact on the rod case and it is in great condition. The reel is also in like new condition with no nicks or scratches of any kind. It is lined with backing and a weight forward#3 floating line. This is as close to factory new as you can get at a much better price. This is a ready to fish setup. Just add your leader and you are good to go.

The 123 size CFO reel is hard to come by and is one of the most collectible models. Unlike m ost other English-made CFOs th ese were machin ed from bar stock aluminum providing unsurpasse d lightweight durability and performance. You are viewing/ bidding on a very gently used Orvis CFO III Fly Reel. This reel has been in my collection for many years. And was used twice for brook trout fishing in Maine. It was paired up with a 5 wt. cane rod. During this trip, a small scratch occurred on the edge of the reel. It is shown in the photo. Other than this, the reel is in pristine condition. It has a soft leather case, and matching spare spool. This model is designed for 4-6 wt lines. It is made by Hardy Brothers of England for Orvis. Orvis CFO 123 Fly Reel Plus Two Spare Spools
This is the smallest reel made by Orvis at the time. It is perfectly balanced with 1.2, or 3 wt rods. It was made by Hardy in England. I am offering two extra spools for a total of three. One is filled with a double taper one wt(no backing) and another with wf 2 wt for windier days(no backing) The third is filled with backing and a 3 wt wf line. The spool filled with the 3 wt has a small dent on the rim but works fine. Everything else is in near perfect condition. See my other listings for matching rods.

Orvis. CFO IV, fly reel with two spare spools. This is the 3 ¼” x ¾” heavily ventilated reel that was originally designed by Stan Bogdan for Orvis. This particular one is one of the older reels that were made in England for Orvis. With the adjustable drag switch on the rear plate that works as it should when turned. One can change the direction of the spool drive on this exposed rim reel by flipping the cam on the inside to move the pressure onto the other spring. This IV model can handle a WFF 6 line, and it has a double-sided nickel silver two-screw line guard and an aluminum full-length foot. The spare spools fit perfectly, and there are NO bent spool rims as all three spools spin beautifully. Orvis CFO III Fly Reel. I bought this little trout reel during my'Passion for Fly Fishing' period at the end of the 1990's. I can't recall ever having used it.Mainly because I never really had a small trout rod that it paired well with. I am told these were made for Orvis by Hardy.And that wouldn't surprise me,as the quality is simllar. The reel measures 3 inches in diameter and is right hand wind.I believe it can by changed to left hand wind,but I'm not sure how you do it. It has an adjustable drag. A beautiful little lightweight trout reel for a small rod and lightweight line. The cosmetic condition is excellent. Comes with spare reel and sheepskin lined case. Very good condition in Bottle Green leatherette with a lovely sandy coloured Cordura outer. Foam-lined inside on one side. With a hole for reel/spool handle, and white/natural fleece lined on other inside face. Cordura outer fabric with robust zip. NOTE: There is one tiny spec of red(paint or ink or something) above the meeting of the letters R and V that measures a fraction of a millimetre and is not easy to spot. This spec is much duller than is highlighted by the camera flash but the spec is also shown quite well in the picture(which can be enlarged) It could possibly come off with a fingernail but I didn't want to risk any unnecessary damage. This auction is for a rare vintage 1978 Orvis CFO II fly reel with extra spool. This CFO is the smaller version with the screw through the spindle. The reel works well. My father was the only owner of this reel. The spools have line stickers ~ Orvis WF4F HGF and Orvis WF5S. I am not sure if this is the actual line that is on there. EARLY VTG ORVIS CFO IV Screw Back Fly Reel W/ SPARE SPOOL England Hardy
This is one of the earliest Hardy made CFO IV's with the screw back spindle. It is in excellent working condition and has one of the nicest. Smoothest clicks that I have ever heard on a reel. When I acquired it, the screw for the spindle was loose, which explains some of the scrapes on the inside of the spool, but I have completely gone over the reel and lubricated it with Hot Sauce. It is now in perfect working order and I will guarantee it or your money back. The spare spool had a tiny piece of the inside lip broken off, I filed the sharp corners so that it would not grab the fly line(shown in last pic) Works perfect. Shipping is $6.50 to the lower 48.

Most suitable for 3 to 5 weight lines/rods; capacity: WF5F plus 225 feet of 20lb Micron backing. Excellent used condition both mechanically and cosmetically. Spool is sound and tight- no wobbles or warping. Handle is straight, uncracked ... moreand turns smoothly. There is no corrosion or rash internally or externally. Relatively light spool and frame rim wear plus a few small dings here and there one would normally expect in a reel of this vintage. Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply reversing the click pawls- duel directional nickle silver line guide attached to the bottom frame flange with 2 screws. Minimal"drag" regulation may be applied via a plastic knob on the reverse which causes tension springs to exert pressure on the click pawls. ORVIS Saltwater CFO FLY Fishing REEL Large Size 10 WT Made In Argentina SPEY Here we have a mid-1980s vintage Orvis Saltwater CFO fly reel. This reel series was offered by Orvis in the early to mid 1980s as a saltwater resistant alternative to the freshwater only. Made in England CFO reels. They were made in Argentina, machined from bar stock aluminum, and anodized a satin gold color. Oddly, I don't believe any of these reels were ever stamped with the CFO name, though"Saltwater CFO" was the name used by Orvis in their catalogs and ads. The reels came in 3 different sizes. This example is the biggest model. The Large, which has a 4 inch diameter, a weight of 6.5 oz. and a stated capacity of 200 yds. of 30 lb. dacron backing with a WF10F line. The reel has a spring and pawl drag system, utilizing adjustable tension on the pawls, ... morefrom a coil spring loaded yoke. Either the light spring side(marked L) or heavy spring side(H) pawl can be engaged or both pawls can be engaged to vary the click drag. This limited drag is meant to be augmented with spool rim palming when needed. There was another coil spring drag system used earlier with this series, but it was replaced by this improved one, which is the same type as used with the Orvis Presentation series reels. The reel is in good used condition. All mechanics are good. There is some fine rash on the back side edge of the frame and along the edges of the spool rim. The reel is currently set up for right hand retrieve with the"heavy" pawl engaged. But it can be switched to any other setting. There is very little cosmetic wear or tear evident about the reel or spools' rimmed edges and face given its obvious age, with no major chips, gouges, dents, dings, rubs or scrapes noticed. The reel foot still appears straight and tight with no signs of damage or abuse witnessed, and a close inspection of the reel's interior confirms all pieces of the adjustable dual-check click-pawl drag still perfectly intact with no evidence of excessive wear or tear found. A quick test of the reel's drag confirms smooth and increasing tension throughout its entire adjustable range with no stutter, stick, or hesitation experienced, and the spool release-mechanisms and handle knobs were additionally confirmed in perfect working order on both spools as well. Up for auction is a classic CFO II(2) click and pawl with a leather case(I don't think its the original leather case) with rivets. The reel is already loaded with backing and 1 wt line. The numbering on the reel looks like a III but is actually a CFO II(2) based on the measurement of the diameter on the spool(see picture 12 from ad in a 1975 Orvis Catalogue) This reel was made in England by Hardy. This reel has been used and still has a lot of life left in it. As you can in the pictures there is a piece of metal missing in the spool(picture 7) This spool is rubbing a on the frame as you can see in pictures 10 and 11. Auctioning my Orvis CFO Disc II. The reel is in great shape with only light signs of wear from normal use. The reel in the photo is the reel being auctioned. Reel is smooth and drag works perfectly. No issues whatsoever that I can see. Orvis backs their products like crazy so even if something did come up. Just bring it in or call them. Right now it has a Gen3 Orvis Wonderline on it. i'm selling an early(1970's) Orvis CFO III reel. click/pawl drag. It was made in England and features the"screw back" where the spindle is held in place with a screw. this reel shows some wear on the edges and a few small dings(see the pics) but is very solid and smooth in operation. it comes with a used line and backing and in an Orvis leather/shearing reel case. BID WITH CONFIDENCE- SATISFACTION GUARANTEED Gorgeous lightly used early vintage Orvis CFO V single action. Classic spring and click pawl fly reel made by Hardy Brothers of Alnwick, England(circa 1978) Reel is 3 and 1/2 inches in diameter by 1 3/8 inches wide(excluding drag knob and handle) and weighs 4.0 ounces. Most suitable for 6 to 10 weight lines/rods, capacity: WF9F plus 200yds of 20lb Dacron backing. Exceptional condition both mechanically and cosmetically. Spool is sound and tight- no wobbles or warping. Handle is straight, uncracked and turns smoothly. Frame edge and spool rim wear is significantly lighter than one would typically expect to see in most used reels of this vintage. There are a few small dings here and there ... morethat are hardly worth mentioning but I am anyway just for the record. Light scratches on top of the reel foot and general overall fading of the finish- after all the reel is over 35 years old! Reel can be fished with right or left hand retrieve by simply reversing the click pawls- duel directional nickle silver line guide attached to the bottom frame flange with 2 screws. Minimal spool over-running and"drag" regulation may be applied via a plastic knob on the reverse which turns a metal cam that causes springs to exert varying amounts of pressure on click pawls floating against the gear teeth at the base of the spool spindle. Additional drag pressure may be applied manually by palming the spool rim. Excellent compliment to a classic bamboo fly rod. Includes a new generic cloth and Cordura nylon, padded and zippered reel case- not shown. Images should provide all the information necessary to make a reasonably intelligent bid on this lot.
