The little spring can be removed to have a silent outgoing line. I recently put in a new clicker spring as I never fished this reel with the clicker installed and somehow I lost the little part. The reel is in great shape with the exception of a small area of wear on the bottom of the frame where I must have rubbed it against rocks(see the last photo) Please check photos carefully and ask any questions before purchasing. This auction is for an early Abel No. 2 Big Game Fly Reel with the solid(i.e. Not perforated) frame and Black Coral(gloss) finish. The reel has been used only a very few times and is in excellent condition. A very close inspection will reveal a very minor, almost imperceptible loss of finish on the rear of the reel foot(see last photo) otherwise, I would describe the reel's condition as mint. The reel is loaded with 20# dacron backing. But I had the reel serviced about two years ago at the Abel factory and haven't used it since that time. As seen in the last photo. There is a one small area of wear to the finish on the face of the spool. The rest of the reel, including the rim. Is unmarked. Abel Big Game Pt. 5 Reel Early round hole model in platinum
This is a pretty rare early model Abel Pt. 5 fly reel. This has the round holes on the spool and a beautiful solid face frame in platinum. This reel shows very little signs of use. There are a couple of small nicks on the edge and very light marks/scratches on the face that can only be seen at certain angles and they are only surface marks. The black small pieces on the inside of the reel are from the foam of the case. All the photos were taken in macro mode to show fine derails. This reel has the saw tooth drag teeth and is left hand retrieve(silent outgoing) The case is the early model that came with the reel. It is not as thick nor protective as later Abel cases.
