Up for auction is an Orvis Battenkill Multiplier 8/9 standard arbor fly reel made in England. The spool maybe easily and quickly removed to change right/left hand retrieve. The reel is made for 8 or 9 wt. line. It is a multiplier reel. Meaning that for each turn of the reel handle the reel turns more than once. There seem to be a couple of minor, hard for me to see scratches on the reel and it seems function perfectly. It is a heavy duty reel that only weighs 5 ozs. I have lubed it and comes with a full reel of backing,fly line and tippet. We have a smoke-free home. It has no case, but does have the original box and instructions. In keeping with my new year's resolution to sell equipment that I don't use any longer. I am offering a Scientific Anglers System 2 Disc Drag Reel and Spare Spool. This outfit is made in England. If you know anything about these reels it is that they are bombproof. The reel housing and spools are free of nicks but as the pictures show, the reel housing contains areas where the anodized finish has worn off. There is also some wear of the anodized finish on the spools but much less so and it is confined to the rims. Both spools contain 20 lb dacron backing. The drag mechanism is very clean. I always back off the drag on my reels after use. Whether you are just getting started in fly fishing or want an inexpensive setup as a backup this is an attractive offer. Questions welcomed. Orvis CFO III for line weights 5-6. 4 oz. 3" diamete r. Balance out modern graphite rods nicely and have a very smooth disc drag. This Orvis CFO III reel shows minor signs of use(light wear around the rim) operates the same as when it was out box. Recently cleaned and lubed and is ready to be fished. Up for auction here is an Orvis Battenkill 3/4 Disc Drag Reel. This little reel is in great shape. Its got a few scratches from use over the years, but mechanically its in perfect shape. The disc drag works perfectly and is ultra smooth. It'll let you put the hammer down on those big trout when you need to. Comes with a Cortland 444SL WF4F line also in great shape. I loved using this on a tiny 3 weight rod for small trout streams- its a great tool, a real old school yet still modern piece of fishing equipment. Hardy Ultralite Disc Drag 8/9 light salmon fly reel
The reel is in very good condition. The drag is excellent.and of course the unmistakable House of Hardy reels sound. The body is in very good condition but have only few normal usage scratches. The fly lines from the spools are not included. I think it is an excellent fly reel for steelhead and switch fly rods. But can be great too for saltwater use, or bass, carp fly fishing purposes. Hardy has opted to link the spool to the frame with a captive nut, nothing wiggles or moves which shouldn't wiggle or move. Remove the spool to reveal the cassette. This has the most user friendly means of getting spools in and out that I have met to date– slide the lock catch to unlock and the spool comes out, slide the catch to lock and your spool is locked. More complicated to make than the typical O-ring mechanism but so much nicer to use!
