The 8/9 Disc is a standard arbor reel, with a wide spool that is 3 3/8 inches in diameter. The reel weight is about 5 1/2 oz. model, and will hold about 220 yds. of 20 lb. backing with a WF8F line or 170 yds. with a WF9F. It has a offset, compression gear disc drag system. The reel was made in England for Orvis by British Fly Reels. The reel has seen modest use. And remains in very good condition. There are areas of slight finish wear. The reel works nicely, with a strong drag. It is set for left hand retrieve, and can be easily converted to right, merely by inverting the center gear on the spindle so the"R" marked side is up. This Cascapedia Mark III has done light duty on local steelhead rivers. Always in its case and well cared for, but I'm ready to move up the Hardy foodchain and have to let it go. You'll see from the photos this reel is pretty much mint, and I've got the neoprene case and original packaging with warranty card. Set up for Left Hand Retrieve. But the included instructions let you know how to change it. I really. Really dig the sound of this reel, and honestly, you can't beat its drag to put the brakes on a raging sea-run fish. I was a little worried about the capacity of this reel, but I was able to fit about 100 yards of#20 backing, an Airflo ridge running line and a Airflo Skagit Compact 540gr. with just enough room.
