LL Bean GQS Disc 8/9 Spey/salt Fly Reel (Made In England By Hardy Bros, Used)
Used LL Bean GQS fly reel rated for 8 or 9 weight lines. This reel was made in England by Hardy Brothers of Alnwick and is very similar to the Marquis Disc or early model Orvis CFO Disc lines of reels. This retro style reel has a solid disc drag. Is saltwater proof and can be changed from left to right hand wind easily. It would be perfect paired with a Spey or switch rod. The reel has had some use. But is in reasonable working order. Mechanically it is good shape and the drag and clicker mechanism function well. Cosmetically it has a number of small dings and blemishes. This particular model was supplied with a black stealth paint finish, rather than anodization. The paintwork on this was was in bad shape, so it has been re-sprayed. The current paintwork is ok, but not perfect- see pictures. This is a good functioning reel to use, not one ... morefor a collector. Spool diameter is approximately 3.75 inches. ORVIS Saltwater CFO FLY Fishing REEL Large Size 10 WT Made In Argentina SPEY Here we have a mid-1980s vintage Orvis Saltwater CFO fly reel. This reel series was offered by Orvis in the early to mid 1980s as a saltwater resistant alternative to the freshwater only. Made in England CFO reels. They were made in Argentina, machined from bar stock aluminum, and anodized a satin gold color. Oddly, I don't believe any of these reels were ever stamped with the CFO name, though"Saltwater CFO" was the name used by Orvis in their catalogs and ads. The reels came in 3 different sizes. This example is the biggest model. The Large, which has a 4 inch diameter, a weight of 6.5 oz. and a stated capacity of 200 yds. of 30 lb. dacron backing with a WF10F line. The reel has a spring and pawl drag system, utilizing adjustable tension on the pawls, ... morefrom a coil spring loaded yoke. Either the light spring side(marked L) or heavy spring side(H) pawl can be engaged or both pawls can be engaged to vary the click drag. This limited drag is meant to be augmented with spool rim palming when needed. There was another coil spring drag system used earlier with this series, but it was replaced by this improved one, which is the same type as used with the Orvis Presentation series reels. The reel is in good used condition. All mechanics are good. There is some fine rash on the back side edge of the frame and along the edges of the spool rim. The reel is currently set up for right hand retrieve with the"heavy" pawl engaged. But it can be switched to any other setting. RARE ORVIS LORD II / MORNER Fly Reel 9 10 11 Wt Salmon Steelhead Spey
Amazing Swedish engineered fly reel! The Orvis Lord II was made by a Swedish engineer Morner in the 1970's and only sold by Orvis for a couple of years. The last year Orvis sold them was 1981. It is a MULTIPLYING retrieve of 1: 2.14 and has a very unique drag system in which the drag is incorporated in to the knob with infinite control with out removing your hand from the knob. Apparently the engineer Morner will accept these reels for maintenance and dexterity reversal for shipping costs only although this reel is in perfect condition and needs nothing. It is made from aluminum and stainless steel which will hold up for a lifetime. You can go to classic fly rod forum and do a search for Orvis Lord or Morner and find first hand experience from owners of this unique reel. This is the larger version with a 4" diameter.1 3/16" ... morewidth, weighing 8.1 oz. It has a capacity of WF9 +220 yards 20 lb backing-or- WF11 + 130 yards of 30 lb. backing. This is a Redington AS(standard arbor) 11/12 weight gold fly reel. This is a refurbished reel. It has a few minor scratches but is in excellent mechanical condition. Redington sold over 40 thousand of the AL and AS model machined anodized reels until the company was sold and Orvis put into the contract that the reels had to be discontinued so they did not compete with their reels. This reel holds 350 yards of 30 pound backing with a 12 weight line. Set for left hand retrieve but can be reversed. I have landed 125 pound tarpon on my AL 11/12. This is a good reel for a spey or double handed rod.

Teton Tioga RA #12 Fly / Spey Reel
I used this Tioga Reel on a#8 Spey rod with a Vector Ballistic spey line(55 ft. head) It has been a great reel and they are super durable. My friend has one and it flew off his truck at 65 MPH. And minus a few small scratches it still works like a champ. It is set up to be either right or left hand retrieve by moving the clicker to the opposite side. This particular reel is out of production, but parts are still available through Teton. Unfortunately, I no longer have the box and owners manual but any info. you need is available online. I always loosened off the drag when I was done with it. I don't want to get rid of it but it doesn't work on my new rod. It includes an unknown length of backing.

Felton Harrison SW "Archangel" Saltwater or Spey Fly Reel - MINT condition
A Harrison SW Archangel set for right hand wind measuring 4" in diameter and 1 ½" wide in what is likely unused condition. A very well made reel that is machined from aluminum bar stock with a wood handle and some titanium components. It's not clear to me which parts are titanium but the reel is certainly light for its size. Weighing 10.2 oz. these reels are no longer in production with less than 200 made. The drag is a large cork surface similar to that used in the heavier Seamaster reels. The reel has two clicks which may be set(internally) in the off position. Both on, or one on, one off.
