1964 PFLUEGER FREE SPOOL SUPREME BAIT CASTING REEL W/ LEAPING BASS #1576 W/ CASE
Up for auction is a 1964 Pflueger Supreme Free Spool Bait Casting Reel. This is the anniversary edition with the leaping bass emblem. It is#1576 and comes with everything you see in the first picture. You get the reel. Plastic case, 2 Pflueger Little Giant tools, extra handle(unused) box flap with description and price tag, directions for the Cub handle drag and the original receipt dated 9-3-64 from Klein's Sporting goods. The Plueger reel is in excellent condition and looks like it had little use. The plastic case is excellent with light staining on the interior white and the red felt on the bottom as all but completely come off. The 2 tools have light rust. The extra handle again is unused with the rubber covers still on. The instructions are clean in excellent condition with an 1/8" tear on one of the folds. Up for bid is one vintage SHAKESPEARE'Marhoff 1964 Model GE casting reel with clicker. And drag control. This reel is in good used condition. It is equipped with a clicker controlled by a slide button on the rear plate, 4:1 geared multiplier, and drag control through a rotating knob on the front cover, all in good working condition. It is marked Nickel-Silver, but it appears some of the metal is nickel plated brass as there is a small area of brass showing on the handle and level wind mechanism. On the rear plate it is inscribed with" Shakespeare. Marhoff. 1964, Nickel Silver. MODEL GE" On the bottom of the foot it is inscribed with"MADE IN U.S.A. PATENTED" The handle has a plastic knobs in good condition. It measures 2-3/16" diameter. 3-7/8" deep including the handle, pillars are 1-3/4" long, and has ... morea foot measuring 2-7/16" long by 9/16" wide. The reel is in very good working condition, everything works as intended. It weighs 7.8 ounces, with packaging it will ship at 13 ounces. It's my pleasure to offer at auction an absolutely Spectacular Unused 1964 SHAKESPEARE No.1970-A"PRESIDENT" MODEL EG LEVEL-WIND CASTING REEL WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX. MARKED VINYL CASE, INSTRUCTIONS& FACTORY TOOLS. The finest example of this complete package that I've ever seen and one almost impossible to upgrade. The"President" model was the Shakespeare Company's highest-grade casting reel since the 1920's. This black and gold example was introduced in 1964, as evidenced by the"Model EG" stamping. It would be the last version of the"President" reel that would finally be discontinued in 1969. Faceplate reads"No.1970A PRESIDENT By Shakespeare" near the top and"MODEL EG" toward the bottom. While under the foot is stamped"Made In U.S.A. An extremely handsome direct-drive ... morereel that comes equipped with strong clicker, smooth level-wind, anti-backlash control knob, tension control, plastic arbor, sculpted pillars and black tenite endplate spacers with matching dual handle grips. I've added a photo of the original listing from Shakespeare's 1964 catalog, which introduces the"New" model President. Reel is in solid Extra Fine or better condition. The few minute rubs(likely from the inside of the case) to the head plate spacer are most certainly storage-related, as this reel has never been used. Needless to say, it displays beautifully. Works perfectly, as one would expect and is very smooth-running. Put up in the original box which, with the exception of a small spot where a price tag has been removed, looks brand new. It's as crisp and fresh as they come. It even contains the original packing paper. Comes with the original grey vinyl case, which is labeled"Shakespeare" in gold. It's in fresh. Like-new condition.
