You are looking at a vintage Oreno level winding anti-back-lash casting reel. This reel is made by the South Bend Bait Co. in South Bend. Indiana. This reel is in fairly good condition and still reels pretty well. All marks on the reel are visible in my pictures. These two fine vintage"Made in America" bait casting reels were used for fishing. But are in very good condition. The Ocean City 1810 has a rich gold finish with only minor scratches. This is a vintage South Bend No. 30 Model D level-wind. Casting reel in the original box. The reel is in excellent condition. The handle and level-wind move smoothly and the clicker is strong. The side plate is 2 1/4" in diameter. The box shows some wear with a split on one end of the top. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Up for bid is one vintage casting reel manufactured by South Bend. No. 45 ORENO LEVEL WINDING CASTING REEL. This reel is in good condition. It measures 2-3/16" diameter, 3-3/4" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-7/16" long by 9/16" wide. On the bottom of the foot it has"MADE IN U.S.A. PATENTED" It has a 4:1 geared multiplier. The handle has plastic handles. It has a clicker slide button on the rear plate, and a rotating knob also on the rear plate that controls the anti-back-lash/drag. The crank side is engraved with"SOUTH BEND, QUALITY TACKEL, BAIT COMPANY" and"No. 45, ORENO LEVEL WINDING" The nickel plated brass is in good overall condition with some brass showing on the rims, and on the inside edge of the rear plate where there is an area of corrosion(see photo) There ... moreare jeweled bearing caps front and rear in good condition. Up for auction a rather Nice CIRCA 1950 SOUTH BEND NO.60"ORENO" MODEL C JEWELED LEVEL-WINDING NARROW SPOOL"TOURNAMENT" CASTING REEL WITH THE ORIGINAL BOX& SOUTH BEND SCREWDRIVER WRENCH. The Shakespeare-built No.60 narrow spool"tournament" reel was available from the South Bend Bait Co. from before WWII until well into the 1950's. This example comes in the original post-war box. I don't know when the Model C was first offered. But I'd guess somewhere around the early 1950's. These were very lightweight, aluminum-framed reels that South Bend recommended for tournament casting throughout their catalogs. Faceplate is stamped"No.60 ORENO Model C" near the top, with the"SOUTH BEND- Famous In Fishing" slogan near the bottom. Under the foot reads"Made In U.S.A. Patented" ... moreI've added a photo of the original listing from South Bend's 1952 catalog. Built with maroon Anodized sideplates and comes equipped with strong clicker, smooth level-wind, perfect jeweled oil caps, tension control, smooth-operating anti-backlash control, narrow spool, chromed rim guard and an aluminum tournament crank handle with dual swirled plastic grips. Reel is in about Fine+ condition for these, showing only moderate overall wear. Shows some light finish loss, but still displays nicely. Works perfectly and is extremely smooth-running. Put up in the original box, which is correctly marked for the reel. It remains crisp and fresh, showing only light corner and edge wear.
