Higgins"No back-lash" level wind bait casting reel in original box. Includes receipt from tackle shop who opened her up. Cleaned, lubed, inspected, and re-installed old vintage line that was on it. Reel turns very smoothly and has a few spots of surface rust(see 12 photos) Clicker clicks, crank handles are original and solid with no chunks or chips missing, original box shows wear and some surface paper loss but is solid with no tears. This is an older JC Higgins Casting Reel. Both ends are etched with pictures of fish. The one end also is etched: JC Higgins 537.3103. It is marked on the part that goes up against the fishing pole: Pat. App. For- Made in U.S.A. There is a piece chipped out of the one plastic covering over the crank but otherwise it is in excellent condition. It is in great working order. The drag and the line feed is fine. It comes in the original box and the Care and Use guide. The buyer will pay shipping according to their zip code and weight of the package. All of this is shown in pics. But it was difficult to get good pics due to finish being so shiney. Handles are in great shape, no chips or cracks. Vintage J.C. Higgins No. 537.3103"Engraved" with"Seven Fish" Level Wind Reel Produced by Bronson Here is one of the vintage levelwinds made by Bronson that is somewhat rare and is highly sought after. Made by Bronson for Sears. The Seven Fish. has a satin finish which makes the"engraving" stand out more than reels with an glossy finish. This reel is in very good condition with very few dings or rubbing on the edges. Levelwind and clicker work as they should. The only challenge with this reel is a common one- the plastic knobs have shrunk to some extent so that they won't turn freely on the crank. This is a real nice looking Higgins with a bass fish engraving on the handle side. The bass is just the start though, they also decided to add what looks to be a whole fish mural on the opposite side. I counted 7 fish over there, must be a built in instruction guide of all types of fish you are supposed to catch! The bright red handles also make it stand out nicely among other reels, making this a fine addition to anyone's collection. Overall this one doesn't show very much actual fishing use, just a few minor scuffs along the edges. Also the center crossbars show some crazing or fading in the metal, but I can't tell if it was always this color so will let you ... morebe the judge. VINTAGE J.C. HIGGINS 300 LEVEL WIND CASTING FISHING REEL MODEL 537.28810
Here is a nice condition vintage J.C. Higgins"300" level wind model 537.28810 stamped on inside spool. Casting fishing reel with Bakelite retrieve handles. Reel has very nice and attractive engraving on both ends, the level wind system is very smooth and tracks perfectly, retrieve is also very smooth, clicker operates perfectly with little effort in engaging and disengaging and free spooling also runs smooth and free with spool tension adjustment also working freely. The Bakelite handles are also in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Stamped on the bottom of the foot is"Made In USA" There are 3 minor surface"scuffs" typical with age. I believe this can be used as is or cleaned easily to get it in great condition.

REEL CONDITION: This reel WORKS and is mechanically sound having all parts fully inspected! Top of tail plate ever-so-slightly bowed in does not affect reel operation. This is all-original as found with a half-spool of old black line. The plates measure 2-3/16" in diameter. Pillars are 1-3/4" wide. The clicker works in both positions! The level wind line guide travels back and forth as designed. Handle and spool spin free and easy! Both plates have some very very small nicks. Hairline scratches and soiling which is to be expected of something of this age. This one has the excessive age old soiling on the tail plate. See the splash of light color paint on the top of the head plate rim. Both handle knobs are in good condition as there are no cracks or chips. This one should be cleaned!
