The reel has scratches consistent with normal use over the years. It is considered in good overall condition. Please ask all questions before bidding. Vintage Shakespeare Direct Drive Fishing Reel# 1924/ USA Made/ Model PK(possibly FK. see description) NEEDS REPAIRS AND CLEANING! PLEASE READ ALL DETAILS OF THIS LISTING AND CAREFULLY VIEW ALL PHOTOS BEFORE BIDDING. This is a used item. In need of some serious cleaning, and possibly some minor repairs, so NO RETURNS. This reel has been lying in a box in my house for a number of years. Waiting for me to get it listed on Ebay. If you love to fish, or if you’re a collector or restorer of vintage fishing gear, this one’s for you! The last time I went fishing was in 1967 or 1968. And I know virtually nothing about fishing equipment. Here’s what I do know about this piece: The logo says it is a No. 1924 Direct Drive by Shakespeare. The model number stamped on the end cap has one slightly blurred character. But it appears to be a Model PK. The end ... morecap design is ellipsoidal. Almost a teardrop shape, with the cap containing the gearing(the handle cap) being slightly larger than the opposite end cap. Dimensions: End Cap Length and Height: 2.75” x 2.25” Width(end cap to end cap) 2.25” Mounting Shank( 2.5” x 0.5” The main body is all stainless. Or chromed, steel. All connecting members and retaining screws are stainless steel. Reel handles are plastic. With a rubberized outer coating which has deteriorated over the years. Without removing the rubber coating, I can’t be positive, but the primary handles appear to be a shade of ivory in color, and appear to be sound. The mounting shank is stainless steel and is slightly curved. It is mounted to one of the round cross members with rivets; these are almost the only rivets visible on the reel. As all other retainers are stainless steel screws. CONDITION: The basic functions of the reel appear to be sound. The reel operates in both directions. And the reel tensioner seems to function properly. However. As mentioned above, the outer rubberized casing for the plastic handles/knobs is deteriorated. Also. Vintage Shakespeare #1924 Direct Drive FK Level Wind Casting Reel w/ Box 1951
This is a vintage Shakespeare No. 1924 Direct Drive Model FK level-wind. Casting reel in the original box. The FK dates this model to 1951. The reel is in excellent condition. The handle and level-wind move smoothly and the clicker is strong. The side plates are tear drop shape: one is 2 3/4" long and the other is 2 1/2" long. The box shows wear but is solid. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I sell a wide range of mostly older and used items but I'm not an expert. I do my best to describe things as accurately as I can. But I can make mistakes or overlook things that an expert might not so please realize I am happy to work out any problems later. And the flat side at one time had some sort of sticker. Disassemble and clean with alcohol will make this shine. The handles need replaced. Once done you will have a very collectable reel. Wind bail operates. Reels easily. Clicker works. Chrome is in very good overall condition. Select button. And both drag knobs work freely.
