Up for bid is one vintage casting reel manufactured by South Bend. No. 300 ANTI-BACK-LASH Model D. This reel is in very good condition. It measures 2-1/4" diameter, 3-7/8" deep including the handle, and has a foot measuring 2-7/16" long by 9/16" wide. On the bottom of the foot it has"MADE IN U.S.A. PATENTED" It has a 4:1 geared multiplier. The handle has plastic knobs. It has a clicker slide button on the rear plate, and a rotating knob on the front cover that controls the anti-back-lash. The crank side is engraved with"SOUTH BEND, Famous in Fishing" And still on the front plate is engraved"No. 300, SOUTH BEND, ANTI-BACK-LASH, MODEL D" The metal used for the front and rear plates appears to be Stainless Steel with chrome plated brass used for the foot, pillars, and handle. Model C, It is in good condition with a number of small scratches to the chrome plating and a couple of places where the chrome has rubbed off exposing the brass beneith but overall it shows nice. There is no rust or corossion. It comes with its original box which is in rough condition with stains, marks and rips to the cardboard. You will not be disappointed. Vintage South Bend No.350 Model C Level Winding Anti-Back-Lash Bait Casting Reel with original product care and use brochure This South Bend No. 350-C is in great working condition. Cosmetically it is clean. The nickel plating is bright and shiny with signs of normal wear for it age. The handle cranks great, and has a nice feeling gear set. The level wind works smoothly, and has a excellent working bait clicker and switch. The original brochure is included in the auction. On one side it is printed with care information about oiling. Assembly, threading of the line, and anti-backlash adjustment; on the back side it has bait casting instructions. Markings: The reel is engraved with an oval containing"South Bend Bait Company" with"Quality Tackle" in the center. The reel includes two sturdy plastic handles(looks like they ... moremight be Bakelite) and is nickel plated.
