The Frame And Reel Are In Excellent Condition. I don't Think This Reel Has Seen Much Use. BUT it has a Stiffness in the Mechanism.The Reel DOES NOT SPIN FREELY,It Could be a piece of line stuck between the reel and frame or old grease, or a number of things. I have this nifty old Shakespeare Wondereel 1920 model GA. Made in U.S.A. It appears to work but I haven't tsken it fishin since I'm an open-face guy, myself. It has fishing line on it. I also have a groovy little booklet with it. I am throwin in a few lures that are old. Some are missing hooks but perhaps they'll be good for parts/fixup, ect. All you need now is a pole and a lake snd you're ALL SET!

Vintage Shakespeare Wondereel 1920 Model GE level wind bait casting reel in two-piece box with paper instructions and wrench. Reel capacity is 100yds for 15 lb test. Or 50yds with arbor. Box shows normal wear at corners and edges. Portions of the label are peeling, seams are solid with no tears. Fold out paper instructions show some discoloration. The reel is very clean. Reel shows no visible wear, scratches or scuffs. Mechanically reel is very smooth. Fast, spins freely. This is an Excellent reel and box combination for the collector. The GA model was produced from 1940-1945. My Dad bought it new. Somewhere between 1940 and 1943(at which time he went into the Army– Normandy invasion) Everything works; drag can be adjusted.
