Vintage Shakespeare 1973D Direct Drive Sportcast Reel, Box & Insert
Here is a vintage Shakespeare 1973D Sportcast Level Wind reel. Box and insert.the box is ok but has a spot where somone but tape on the box and it has peeled a bit you can see in the pics and has the original parts list in it. The reel works fine has a strong bait click and level wind is smooth. There is a reel bag included not sure if it is original or not. There are also two cover gaurds included one on the left side of the reel and the other is just in the box. There is a sharespeare snap on plastic reel arbor included already attached to the reel with the original insert that came with the arbor. SHAKESPEARE STANDARD SPORTCAST BAIT CASTING REEL
It is a Sportcast 1977 model GD. This reel works really well in both free spool and clicker but as you can see from the pics it does have condition issues. There is corrosion on the knobs and they don't turn. There is a lot of wear. Rust and pitting. It has jeweled caps in good condition, rear one is dull but not chipped or cracked. There is a small crack in the white insert, doesn't show very well but it's on the bottom in the pic of the foot. Narrow spool. I accept paypal only and no returns please. Ship USA only. Narrow spool Shakespeare 1973 Sportcast baitcasting fishing reel
This narrow spool reel Model HB has jeweled bearing caps and a good strong click. It has a feature where it is in free spool all the time and the handle has to be pushed in to retrieve line. It was a very popular tournament casting reel in it's day. It is missing the level wind feature and I understand that the tournament casters would remove it for smoother and longer casts. I have also heard that the reel could be ordered that way. Take the missing levelwind into consideration when bidding! Otherwise. The reel is in excellent condition, with light wear.

Old Vintage ENGRAVED NARROW Shakespeare PROFESSIONAL SPORTCAST 1980 GK Reel EXC!
Awesome old Shakespeare Professional SportCast 1980 Model GK LW ABL Casting Reel. Looks and works great! Recently serviced and runs super smooth and quiet. Strong click and brake. Shorter knobs turn freely. Plated palm rest. Line guide travels with out a hitch. Cork Arbor. End cap on tail is the arrow indicator type. Supposed to have the spring loaded double oil hole cap like the one on the head plate. That's the way I got it tho. A portion of the hand engraved design found on earlier Shakes is stamped into the tail plate. Head ring spacer is not cracked or chipped but has slight"shrinkage" at 11 o'clock. Not bad but noticeable. Narrow framed/spooled for tournament use as well as fishing. Definitely a tougher find than the Standard SportCast. And others for that matter. Works very well! Smooth and quiet spinner. Line guide travels without a hitch, knobs turn freely, strong click and brake. Fancy pillars, no finish fade. Colors are nice and"deep" No cracks in either head or tail ring spacer. There is some scuffing to top edges of spacers. Plated parts in great shape. This reel is kinda weird to me.
