Up for bid is one vintage Hard Rubber& Nickel Plated Brass casting reel manufactured by MONTAGUE. 60 yard line capacity. This reel is marked with a model name on the face plate. It is very very faint. It starts with T and has two rows, the second row appears to be'CASTING REELS' I believe it may be a'TRIBUNE CASTING REEL' by Montague, but have not been able to locate a picture to compare it to. This reel is in good condition. It measures 2-1/4" diameter, 3-5/8" deep including the handle, pillars are 1-5/8" long, and has a foot measuring 2-9/16" long by 9/16" wide. On the bottom of the foot is inscribed"60" It has a 3.5:1 geared multiplier. It has a clicker slide button on the rear plate, and a drag slide button also on the rear plate. Both the clicker and drag control work. The crank ... moreside is engraved with" T.Casting Reels" As previously explained. It appears to have been manufactured by MONTAGUE. The reel is in good working condition and has good plating, with some brass showing on the pillars and bearing caps. It weighs 6.9 ounces, with packaging it will ship at 12 ounces. Old MONTAGUE PRITZLAFF Casting Reel - 80 Yard - Non-Level Winding
Pritzlaff casting reel. Most likely a Montague product, featuring nickel plated brass construction, counter balanced handle, and back plate mounted clicker and brake. Reel is marked Pritzlaff on the face plate and the foot is marked with the number 80. Reel shows some cosmetic wear from use as seen in the pics. Mechanically the reel has very smooth action. You are bidding on a v intage unmarked 60 yard casting? reel. This reel came from the estate of a family friend. Don't know how old it is. But from the style of it, would guess that it's pretty old. Have a very similar one marked V. L. A. also for sale this week) and research led me to Montague as manufacturer of reels for V. L. A. Among others. Montague made generic reels for large and small retailers. Since this unmarked reel is so similar to the V. L. A. reel. It may be a reasonable guess that this one might have been made by Montague.
