Up for auction an Extremely Nice 1921-1930 MEISSELBACH NO.580"TRIPART" NON LEVEL-WIND"TAKE APART" CASTING REEL WITH THE SCARCE ORIGINAL PICTURE BOX. Meisselbach reels in the original box are becoming increasingly hard to find. This reel was built by A.F. Meisselbach Mfg. Co. Sometime between the company's move to Elyria, Ohio in 1921 and the end of production around 1930 or so. Faceplate is stamped" Tripart" N o 580" While the tailplate carries the 1907 and 1909 Patent dates. Under the foot reads"A.F. MEISSELBACH MFG. CO. ELYRIA, O. U.S.A. 80 YARDS" Comes equipped with strong clicker, tension control, a counterbalanced handle with pyralin grip and a true"take apart" feature which allows the reel to be completely disassembled for servicing by simply unscrewing the endplate rings by ... morehand. Reel is in solid Extra Fine condition for these, certainly one of the nicer examples I've handled. Really displays beautifully, with only faint wear. Works perfectly and runs as smooth& quiet as the day it was built. Put up in the scarce original black"Ohio" picture box, which is correctly marked for the reel. Antique Reel AF Meisselbach Tripart #580 Nickle/Brass Newark, NJ 1917-20 SMOOTH!
For your consideration an Antique Reel AF Meisselbach Tripart#580 Nickle Over Brass- August Frederich Meisselbach(Germany)patented his first reel in 1886. Meiselbach sold his business and company name to Heineman& Brothers New York USA. They manufactured these reels in Newark. NJ from 1917to 1920 at which time the company moved to Ohio. With the NJ marking. We know this item is at least 94 years old. THIS REEL IS SMOOTH! An estate sale find. Gears are as smooth as when manufactured. I found this at an estate sale and just passing it along. This is a vintage Meisselbach" Tripart 580" casting reel in pretty good shape given it's age. Measures 2 3/16' wide with a diameter of 2" All mechanical functions work well with no issues. The reel comes apart[ both side plates unscrew] and I opened the sides up to look inside. It's clean and all there but needs a good lubrication. The last patent date registered says Aug 3 1909. If not happy then send it back for a full refund. Thanks for looking and good luck.

This is an early example of this reel in excellent condition. Both cosmetically and mechanically. The tail plate has the patent dates of Dec. 27,04, March 5, 07 and Aug. 3,09. The tail plate has a strong on/off click button. The oil cap on the tail plate is a friction drag. The bottom of the foot reads"A.F. MEISSELBAC& BRO.NEWARK N.J. U.S.A.80 YARDS" Can be used either left or right-hand wind. Do not confuse this with the later model from Elyria, Ohio. An excellent collectible.

Vintage A F Meisselbach& Bro Tripart No 580 Fishing Reel New Jersey This reel is earlier model from Newark. N.J. last Pat. date Aug. 3, 1909 I think it works. It pays out and reels in, not sure if it should lock or not, when you pull the line the handle spins. When pull button up it free spins out. It does not lock in any position, Good condition with wear on finish. See pictures. Sold as is.

This 80 yard reel is marked and is considered an Scarce reel by collectors. Marked with five patents. All before 1909. The clicker is strong. And the appearance is very nice. There is slight brassing on knurling and all other surfaces a clean with minimal scuffing. The reel handle is straight. The reel winds smoothly and spins easily. You are bidding on a Meisselbach Tripart 580 an 80 yard reel with box. This is an earlier reel as it does not have the 1909 patent on the tail plate and is stamped A.F. Meisselbach& Bro. on the foot. Which did not change until 1917. Both are in pretty nice condition even if you don't consider the fact that they are over 100 years old, I should look that good at 100. Reel is as found. Meisselbach No.580 ONE RING Tripart 80 Yard Reel W/ BOX Circa 1907-08 Vintage
You are bidding on a Meisselbach One Ring Tri-part 580 an 80 yard reel with box. This is an early reel and box from 1907-08. The name Tri-Part is hyphenated on both the reel and box. The last patent date is 1907 and the bearing cap on the tail plate is all chrome instead of having a brass center as the later reels do. Unfortunately a mouse chewed on the lid of the box( glad it just chewed on the box and didn't do anything else) and someone scratched something on the tail plate, can't make it all out just 400. Reel has no rust, corrosion, pitting or damage.only flaws are tiny bit of brass on handle crank and two small grooves on foot as shown in photos. Reel has counterweighted handle with ivory bone grasp, tube frame design with screw off rings on both sides for easy cleaning and lubrication, strong clicker with on/off button on tail and besides the two small grooves on foot, it is full length and unaltered. A great condition TRIPART NO.580 by the A F. MEISSELBACH CO. NEWARK NEW JERSY USA. 80 YARDS printed on the bottom looks like a nichle plated brass reel in great working condition and lite scratches from use bringing out the brass color with a strong clicker and decorative ivory type handle and decorative ingraved rims. A great reel for any collector.
